Awful Juxtaposition: "Happy Honda Days" And Air Asia News
The terrible news that bodies are being found in the waters, accompanied by video of the grief-stricken survivors, played right after one of those cloyingly annoying "Happy Honda" commercials. (Incidentally, in general, these make Gregg want to call Honda and tell them he'll never buy one of their cars.)

And yes, I know companies don't intentionally go for placement like this, but I think the world of "automate everything" and nobody's in charge but the computer sometimes could use some human vetting.

This is one of those things in which you have to think really hard to get offended. This is no different than watching a TV news teaser about some tragedy they're going to report on followed by a Santa commercial before the actual news comes on. It's the YouTube news channel that has decided to monetize their content. You're right that they have no control over what appears before the video, but the viewer can usually dump out of the ad after five seconds, which you couldn't do with live television.

As Fayd just said - this is one of those you have to think really hard to get offended.
However, what did get me upset - to the point I turned off the TV! - was the newscaster who had a camera in the face of one young woman and told her that they just found bodies. This was her first hearing of it and they kept the camera on her, even as she turned away trying to hide her tears and upset. They then went in even closer as she tried to turn away even more.
Shameful, just shameful!
So many journalists have no empathy for anyone - it is just a story to them.

Well, it's now turning out that most of the initial reports about what the search found were false. In particular, they have not located an intact fuselage. The level of stupidity that has been on display is stunning. As for media people, this adds to my contention that they live to exploit other people's misery.

Finally, the appropriate moment to say that when the sidebar ads appear on Amy's blog, I frequently get "Private Sessions with Amy" right above "Find True Love - AnastasiaDate.com." :)
I've been chuckling about that juxtaposition for years, every time it or something like it occurs. :)
(Today, FYI, "Private Sessions with Amy" is right above "MidwayUSA - Just About Everything for Hunting Predators.")
