The Real-Life Consequences Of Obamacare
For some -- like Rep. Cynthia Lummis' husband -- it's the screwups of the signup process for Obamacare that may have made them go without the care they needed.
I'm among those who can no longer afford the healthcare I was advised by doctors to have, thanks to a now-sizable deductible. (I'm hoping I'll be okay -- as opposed to using modern medicine to see that I am. And this after decades of having affordable care -- until the "Affordable" Care Act.)

Obamacare is terrible but Cynthia Lummis, is a multi millionaire, with inherited money.
There was no medical care, that she and her husband, Al Weiderspahn, could not have afforded to pay for out of pocket.
I know/ knew them both well, as our daughters were on a high school tennis team together.

That makes the story false, does it?
Screw those rich people, huh?

Well, yes, it does.
Screw those rich people, huh?
The rich have no trouble getting immediate medical treatment without any insurance at all. Al didn't lose his doctor, and there was nothing about Obamacare's failure to pay for something that led to his death.
He probably would have died if he had been in the hospital when he had his massive heart attack.
So yea, I like Cynthia, but it was basically political pandering,

Apparently there are quite a few people in the same boat as my family, wherein the employer-offered insurance may be affordable for the one person in the family who is employed with the company, but the family rates for those policies are now through the roof and have either come extremely close to or surpassed even the monthly mortgage rates those families pay. Yes, one is supposed to be able to go shop around for new coverage (limited coverage, limited options for coverage), but even the high-deductible plans' monthly premiums are outrageous for 2015.

So, yep, screw those rich people.
Everything is just fine.

Of course, I didn't say that. But Radwaste has a history of jumping to conclusions.
Obamacare is a disaster for most of the poor, and the working classes. It is like Medicaid without any doctors.
The rich like Cynthia and Al have many other options.
This is not an example of an Obamacare caused disaster anymore than the shooting in Ferguson Mo was an example of police brutality run amok.

I got my O-care shopping done. Assuming the paperwork actually works I should have BCBSoT next year. Last year I had Humana and it was only after the fact I found out they did not cover doctors. Apparently they do cover hospitals since every hospital I've talked to will take them. Just don't use any doctors when you get to the hospital.
To figure out BCBS was what I needed I drove to all the doctors we plan on using next year and talked with their insurance specialist. An incredible increase in time and effort considering before O-care I paid ~$300/mo and most doctors and hospitals took my insurance. Now I will pay ~$800/mo for worse insurance and I have to drive everywhere to find out who takes it.
For those who wonder why I didn't just use a phone or the internet. The internet is rarely accurate on this. Not a single doctor Humana listed as in network on their website actually was in network. And the phone is actually worse than driving. 4+ hrs on hold with Cigna trying to talk to a person. Doctor offices are usually leave a message and they call you back in a day or two.

Isn't it funny Isab how they can't find an actual O-care disaster? I'm not saying there aren't any. As my and Amy's situation show there are millions of people experiencing worse care and higher costs. But so many of the DC people are completely out of touch with anyone not making millions of dollars a year.

Isab,
Feel free to enumerate this so-called "history of jumping to conclusions".
Just because you do not understand the reasoning process does not mean it does not exist.
Neither is it "jumping to conclusions" to offer a statement designed to illustrate someone else's personal bias. In this case, it is the idea that because someone is rich, it does not matter that the system required by law does not work for them.
That is just another manifestation of wealth envy.

No, but I think it is best just to let your written opinions stand on their own. I am only one of many that sees many leaps of logic between one thought and another.

No one is required to use Obamacare as their only insurance.
And it is not necessary to have any kind of insurance to see a doctor.
Most of them will take cash.
Insurance does not equal health care.
You may call this wealth envy. I call it a legal understanding of what the law requires.
