I'm now an atheist, but I'd like to be thought of as a "magical Jew." (I think it might make people back out of parking spaces for me.)

As a student of anthropology I am always fascinated by a cultures fairy tales.
Arab fables have a rich tradition of everyone having an unjustly shitty life wherein they are the victim of a vast conspiracy, or a tragic error of fate.
They suffer unreasonably for quite a while only to discover they are a long lost prince and will be going home to a new life full of riches, women, and the power to exact their revenge on those who wronged them.
Its kind of depressing really how similar so many of them are.
That their conspiracy theories are almost carbon copies of their fables is no suprise
