RPM- It's a little tough to sympathize with either school. Maybe Sweet Briar more than Wright State... But I've concluded that essentially everyone in the education game is a corrupt savage.
Crid, regarding Sweet Briar, I remember reading somewhere that there's no rule requiring a business to exist forever. Colleges, particularly the small ones, aren't any different in that regard. I suspect we'll see some more closings over the next few years.
As for everyone in the education game being a corrupt savage, you may be right. Still, I'm more tempted to think the Wright State matter was a case of a big, dumb state school not paying sufficient attention to one of its vendors.
Wright State, by the way, isn't all that old. Wiki tells me it was founded in 1967. I remember my Mom going there to finish her degree back in the 70s and 80s, having quit South Dakota State College many years before to get married. When we were in high school, not many of us really wanted to go there; it was much cooler to go to Ohio State or Miami (of Ohio). But lots of people went anyway, and got a good education. I'm told the film program was pretty good.
Not sure about the hearing aids question -- are you mixing me up with someone else?

UCLA is soldiering along. Meanwhile, via today's Maggie's Farm, a small women's college in Virginia enters its final semester of operations.

Meanwhile, a college back in my old Ohio stamping ground manages to shoot itself in the toes.

The "previous" and "next" at the top of this page have no meaning.
Only "earlier" and "later" make sense.
