Okay, so it's not that bad here in Boston. But when you're used to Venice, California, well, it kind of is.

In case people missed it yesterday, UMich backpedaled and decided to show American Sniper after all.

Someone has created a donation site for Michael T. Slager on Indiegogo.com. This occurred after GoFundMe took down the site.
Michael T. Slager, of course, is the former police officer charged with murder for the shooting death of Walter Scott. Sickening that anyone would contribute to such a thing, but I suppose it's somewhat heartening that they only raised $1570.00.

John Adams is on line one for you, Patrick.

In an effort to increase recruiting, the Kazakh military has launched a Miss Army competition, featuring 123 of that country's prettiest soldiers.
This really happened, if the Daily Mail is to be believed (yeah, I know). And some of those ladies are pretty appealing.

I R A, you link didn't exactly go to the heading of the John Adams wikipedia entry. It went to the Boston Massacre section of the page, in which John Adams served as the capable (if reluctant) defense of the British soldiers who opened fire on the drunks.
If by this you're suggesting that the accused cop is entitled to a defense, I agree. Everyone deserves a lawyer. (Good God, what a horrible thing to wish on people!) It's just that cops make decent money; he can afford his own lawyer. I certainly wouldn't contribute my money to give him one. And even if he couldn't afford a lawyer, he could rely on the public defender like everyone else who can't afford a lawyer.
I just don't think he's entitled to his own "dream team," unless he wants to pay for it himself.

Early color photographs! The Lumière brothers pioneered the Autochrome process of color photography in the early 1900s. Here is a charming set of photos from Britain in 1928.

And here's an even earlier set, taken in Tsarist Russia.

Old RPM Daddy, I had no idea color photography was that old.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/01/20/circumcision-autism-new-study_n_6503106.html
"The researchers found that the overall risk of developing autism before age 10 was almost 50 percent higher for circumcised boys than uncircumcised boys"
Note this is at least the second such study to find this correlation. An entirely independent 2013 study (Bauer and Kriebel) found:
"Using all available country-level data (n = 8) for the period 1984 to 2005, prenatal use of paracetamol was correlated with autism/ASD prevalence (r = 0.80). For studies including boys born after 1995, there was a strong correlation between country-level (n = 9) autism/ASD prevalence in males and a country's circumcision rate (r = 0.98). A very similar pattern was seen among U.S. states and when comparing the 3 main racial/ethnic groups in the U.S."
(The latter study shows Tylenol appears to be one of the causes of autism)
