I've been on travel, and wasn't able to comment on the mom in Baltimore giving her kid the thou shalt not riot and loot, boy, I brought you into this world and I can still take you out roughing up.
My question: will anyone take my bet of 100 quatloos that Maryland CPS will investigate her for child abuse?
I'm betting they will. Unless they're still busy sniffing the butts of free-range parents...

This sick, cruel bitch should be indicted tomorrow as her case is reviewed by a grand jury.

Interesting. The gay marriage proponents have an unexpected ally: Mildred Loving (nee Jeter) of the famous Supreme Court ruling, Loving v. Virginia.

I actually never did. I collect a few bizarre children's books now, and have my mom's Oz books, but as soon as I could read, I started mowing through YA and adult books. (I had to get "Helter Skelter" from the older step-daughters of my dad's friend Bill, but I mostly managed to take out whatever books I wanted from the Farmington Hills public library.)
This is about the food police in Aurora, Colorado, in a public school. Oh, and to be clear, this child did have a sandwich and string cheese. I'm having Oreos for after supper tonight in honor of the tiny little kid.
Gooseegg, articles like that one always make me think some kind of civil disobedience is in order, like getting all the parents to send their kids to school with Oreos. Of course, I could also see the parents of the student body splitting into the pro- and anti-Oreo factions, and sneering at each other a lot.

Forget the Oreos. I'm still trying to figure out a school that requires bread to be included in a lunch if the child is getting a potato. How many carbs does one kid need?

I R A Darth Aggie - that mother did what we would have called "old school parenting."
The Baltimore Chief of Police and the Maryland Gov have both commented on her action saying something along the lines of if more parents did that we wouldn't have had all this destruction and police officers wouldn't have been injured.
Yea, after she has cashed in on her fame (I believe that some of the networks have interviewed her) someone somewhere is going to go after her. Too bad really, because I agree that if more parents did what she did (or better yet - keep their kids at home in the first place) Baltimore, Ferguson, etc., wouldn't have had those communities hurt so badly.

I applaud her for getting her kid and maybe saving him from a nightstick-upside-the-head or worse.
Not so sure I think her 6-kids-no-spouse example is a good one, though.

Almost forgot: 2015 marks the 10 year anniversary of the death of Gerard Finneran.

I'll bet an ice cream cone that Our Gracious Hostess (and many of her readers) read this book over and over as a child. Well, here are eleven
facts about the book, its author, and its illustrator!

I read The Phantom Tollbooth, and I loved it.
