"A safety system to stop speeding trains had been installed on the southbound tracks near the derailment in Philadelphia that killed eight people, but not on the northbound side, where the Amtrak train hurtled off a sharp curve at over 100 miles per hour."
Evidently "they" thought an incline would prevent a northbound train from exceeding the speed limit. Bull since that's easier to determine ("Lets see what happens if we ...").

IRA Darth Aggie, your first link was to Ben E. King, who passed away on April 30th of this year. B.B King passed away yesterday. I saw him play a handful of times in clubs in Chicago some years ago. What a mark he left on the blues scene. He will be missed.
