"Black Lives Matter" Rally; White Reporter Not Welcome
Never mind that Cleveland State University is a public university. A white reporter, Brandon Blackwell, was expelled from a "Movement For Black Lives" rally at the university.
Jason Weaver writes for The College Fix:
A reporter was harassed at a "Movement for Black Lives" rally at Cleveland State University after an announcement to the crowd that "this is a peoples of African descent space. If you are not of African descent please go to the outside of the circle immediately."That according to a video circulating which shows reporter Brandon Blackwell, who is not of African descent, quickly retreat to the back of the gathering amidst cheers from activists surrounding him, seemingly in support of the banishment.
...The video concludes with Blackwell repeatedly asking one activist to not touch his camera.
"I got 800 black people behind me, what the f**k are you gonna do?" replied the activist, while standing face to face with Blackwell.
Ugly -- and stupid.
Just as I say I'm a humanist rather than a feminist -- because I care about and stand up for people's rights, not just those of people with vaginas -- people who care about people's rights care about them regardless of skin color.
Shutting people out because they're white is racist and ugly.
And it hurts your cause.
The video:
Oh, and on a biology note, the people who threw Blackwell out for not being of "African descent" are ignorant. As Stephen Pinker writes in The Blank Slate:
So men are not from Mars, nor are women from Venus. Men and women are from Africa, the cradle of our evolution, where they evolved together as a single species.

If a group of Asians had thrown out a black reporter, it would be all over the news. If a group of whites had done so, the world might end.
But a group of blacks being racist? This will quietly be forgotten.

Too funny: "Whitey to the back of the bus." And hey, it's for the children!

Amy!!! Don't be coy, you know what is meant by "Of African descent". And no, it doesn't usually include Afrikaaner.
Actually, I'm all in favor of ________ - only space if people want it. Guys' night out, girls' night out, black night out, white night out, if people have something to discuss pertaining to their group that they want to discuss amongst themselves before bringing it up to others, I think they should

Too bad all of the media won't decide to NOT cover these events as news-worthy or have a "Who Cares" segment.
No news and boredom sets in quickly and the 'leaders' move on. Followers will still meet to cry/whine bu even most of them will get bored.

So black lives matter, but only to black people? Or do I misunderstand the message here?
It would be difficult to come up with a better way to harm the cause they profess to support.
MarkD at July 29, 2015 6:10 AM
The blacks involved will undoubtedly tell you that they can't be racist because they're black. They confuse (if we allow the benefit of confusion) racism with institutionalized racism.
Patrick at July 29, 2015 6:54 AM
All lives matter to me. And there were white people who lost their lives defending civil rights, and I admire them enormously for standing up for PEOPLE who were being denied rights.
Until you are a feminist who is a humanist or a person who cares about the violation of any other human beings' rights, you're simply a member of a special interest group, not a civil libertarian.

Isn't this a public accommodation problem?
Actually, I'm all in favor of ________ - only space if people want it.
I don't have a problem with that, as long as it is being held on private property, or the venue accepts all groups.
I suspect that if, say, the Sons of the Confederacy asked for space at Cleveland State, they'd be denied. Same for Westboro Baptist Church.

Even though I expected it, I'm still surprised at how quickly the whole anti-police-brutality movement has been hijacked by the leftist elite. And yes, people are recognizing it as BS and tuning it out. Part of me suspects that isn't an accident. Leftists, in their little bitty hearts, are authoritarian, and police brutality is just fine with them as long as it's directed at the hoi-polloi. Hijacking the movement, and then doing things to discredit it in the public's eyes, suits their purposes.
And the other aspect is one identity group maneuvering for a higher place on the totem pole. Kicking out a white guy is politically easy, but it also sends a message to others (e.g., Hispanics) of "we did it to them, we can do it to you too".

"Actually, I'm all in favor of ________ - only space if people want it. "
I get that, but... Although the "freedom of assembly" bit is still in the First Amendment, our federal courts decided decades ago that, in pursuit of its social goals, that bit had to go. It's a dead letter now. If it's going to be revived, it has to be revived for everyone. And we all know who won't be given that right under any curcumstances.

No, actually, this doesn't hurt their cause because their cause is hate whitey.
And aside from your blog (and other blogs) I won't be holding my breath for the MSM to report on such "events." It doesn't fit their theme of oppressor whites and victims black.

How exactly would you go about doing that?
Repeal the first amendment?

Fuckin with the PC assholes can be fun.
I was reupping my CPR and First Aid certification.
What a nightmare, I remember as a Boy Scout & Lifeguard the First Aid course taught you how to use a tourniquet, bind wounds, make splits, all sorts of stuff, but due to lawsuit concerns First Aid taught theses days is just "call 911, elevate the legs, keep them cool til help arrives"
But thats a rant for another day.
The "instructor" was asking banal questions and got around to some condition more prevent in black people than white - thing to keep an eye on that might disrupt the 'sit about and do jack shit til the ambulance comes' plan he was teaching.
I swear to god he was looking to go PC on someone, becuase when that person answered black people he said "African Americans yes"
SO just to fuck with him I raised my hands and asked him why it only affected african americans and not any other black people on the planet what so ever. The black guy sitting next t me started laughing.
The instructor wansnt pleased to say the least

"Repeal the first amendment?"
The freedom-of-association part is already repealed, by a combination of legislation and court decisions. The freedom-of-religion part is on the way out and will be a dead letter in another decade. The freedom-of-speech part is under attack, and there's a lot of people in Washington who have long held that the freedom-of-the-press part only applies to the extent that the government permits (case in point: the doctrine that holds that media that rely on radio spectrum licensing can have their content regulated).

The Congressional Black Caucus is a proud, openly racist organization which is part of our government.
The CBC is not merely organized to meet the supposedly special interests of their African-American constituents. They won't admit a white congressman to membership, regardless of who he or she represents.
( en.wikipedia.org /wiki/Congressional_Black_Caucus )
The Congressional Black Caucus is an official group of congressmen and senators. They require black skin to be a member and attend their meetings.
In 2006, a white congressman from Tennessee represented a 60% black district. The CBC refused membership to him.

Wikipedia [edited]: The Black Caucus allows only black members.
Representative Pete Stark (D-Ca, White) tried and failed to join the Black Caucus in 1975. Stark: "I felt we shared an interest to help people in poverty. Half my Democratic constituents are black. The Black Caucus voted no. They said that I was white, and they wanted the group to be limited to African Americans."

Politico: Whites Not Allowed

[edited] In January 2007, Representative Steve Cohen (D-TN, White) pledged to apply for membership in the Black Caucus to better represent his 60% black constituents.
Although the bylaws of the Caucus do not make race a prerequisite for membership, former and current members of the Caucus agreed that the group should remain "exclusively black".
Rep. William Lacy Clay, Jr. (D-Mo., Black) is the son of Rep. William Lacy Clay Sr. (D-Mo., Black) a co-founder of the Caucus. "Mr. Cohen asked for admission, and he got his answer. He's white and the Caucus is black. It's time to move on. We have racial policies to pursue and we are pursuing them, as Mr. Cohen has learned. It's an unwritten rule. It's understood."

I say that race is not important, identifying people by race in a political context is in itself racist, and people cannot be reliably identified by race. For example, is Obama black or white? What are all of the measurements and weightings that would go into that calculation?
Listing the race of congressmen above is my mockery of our current politics of race identification.

Face it, Cecil the lion's life mattered a lot more than most human lives do.

Hey #blacklivesmatter, you just got one-upped by the animal rights people. You need to find a way to call them racist. Do they care about black animals as much as they do about white ones?

Stinky the Clown at July 30, 2015 9:15 AM
As if there has been a single civil rights movement that succeeded without the help and support of white men. You don't want my support? Fine.

"For example, is Obama black or white? What are all of the measurements and weightings that would go into that calculation?"
The public, many of them among us here, puts appearance first. We are excited at the hot chick, and do not want to find out if "she" is really a "he" under the paint.
(Actually, we care more about sex than government. Who is John Huang? "Shut up! I wanna talk about Caitlyn Jenner!")
So we don't look for even the basics, like voting record, we think we see "evidence" on TV and we apply labels to people and causes swiftly.
