15-year-olds are now allowed to get a sex-change operation without parental notification -- and the state will even pay for it through its Medicaid program, the Oregon Health Plan.

Snopes indicated that the story is factual but that no one anticipates a 15 year old to actual be given such a surgical procedure w/o going through couseling, etc. (I assume a parent can not stop the lawful process since in Oregon a 15 year has age of medical consent (since 1971).

Medicaid coverage is applied to all residents of the state (not teens specifically).

How about Oregon's officials like infringing on free speech rights of people who think bad thoughts and would send them to a re-education camp if they could.

I live in Oregon. I'll second that the officials fon't give a flying fuck about what the boters want, rights of others, etc. On the other hand, the state Supreme Court just ruled that police can't just ask if you have a weapon on you when you are stopped by them. They need cause beyond "safety reasons." Every now and then they manage to not fuck up.

50 years ago, Clarence Thomas would not have been allowed to marry his wife, depending upon which state he lived in. I'm sure when the Supreme Court struck down anti-miscegenation laws in Loving v. Virginia, people used the same idiotic (lack of) logic. "Why are you being so intolerant of those who wish to preserve the purity of the white race?"
