In particular:
Q: My company offers unlimited time off. How does the new law affect me?
A: Most employers with this new but growing policy do not track how much time employees take off or for what reason. However, the new law requires that employers separately track sick leave accrual and use.
Could the law have said, "If your employer does not track sick leave, there is no change for them."?
Apparently not.
Mine had to (only for CA employees) institute a separate time tracking system. Now, it sees a sick day, decrements the required 24 hours, and then if you go over 3 days, it reverts to how it worked before / how it works for the rest of the country.
Because... it's the law.

Does the California government not understand that if they raise the cost of doing business in the state high enough, that companies will stop doing business there, or move out of state?

Since it's fuck-it-all-Friday (FIAF), I'll try to lighten things up with an Onion piece.
Oh, wait, it is too depressingly similar to Real Life...*sobs* it is 11am my time, is it to early to drink heavily?

@freddiedeboer @instapundit All the worst people you knew in high school moved to NYC or DC and went into journalism.
"Does the California government not understand that if they raise the cost of doing business in the state high enough, that companies will stop doing business there, or move out of state?"
from IRA's post above concerning a prior robbery at a nearby storage facility:
"Breitbart London reported on the disappearance of 40 grenades, 200 detonators, and an unspecific quantity of plastic explosive which has left police stumped as the facility had no-one on patrol and no CCTV. The thieves were able to wander the site at leisure, prising open the doors of 12 buildings to search for loot before leaving, unchallenged."
And we are worried someone might buy a gun at a gun show. Ha Ha Ha. Why go old school when evidently France has military weapons (not assault weapons mind you) practically lying around.
(And they think we are unsophisticated 'cause us good ole boys buy gun safes?)

I heard about a gun safe getting installed in a friend's house. He does live out in the country, but this gun safe is said to be walk in sized. The house can burn to the ground, but the safe and its contents will be intact.
Hmmm...seems like the French field some pretty nice infantry weapons. I wouldn't turn my nose up at a SIG 550.
