Cop Prevents Search By Security Guard: "There Is A Constitution That I Swore An Oath To..."
The video:
From CounterCurrentNews:
Two security guards had detained and were about to search people just for watching fireworks. But that's when a police officer showed up on the scene and said "there is a constitution that I swear an oath to, so don't freaking mess with it with these citizens. Do you understand me?""I know you aren't subjected to the Constitution when it comes to your job, but don't mess with it," the officer says.
"They have a right to their property. They have a right not to be searched by anybody. They have a right not to be accosted," he adds.
"I swore an oath to the constitution, don't mess with it."
Now I just want to hear cops talking this way to other cops.

"Now I just want to hear cops talking this way to other cops."
Amen. Unfortunately, I can't get too misty eyed about this, although it is an encouraging sign. Until I hear cops confronting other cops at scenes like this about poor behavior, an alternative explanation (from the perspective of a former street cop) is that the cop was -
1. Taking the opporthunity to bully a security guard, a job which many cops hold in contempt. Bully a suspect? Bully a security guard? Bullies just like to bully. If I bully the security guard in this instance I get the additional benefit of -
2. Currying favor with "usual suspects" in an area he patrols, that favor to be exploited at a later date in the course of police work. Or, as one who speaks gibberish - I mean "ebonics" opps, sorry again - "African American Vernacular English" - might put it - "establish some street cred."
It bears repeating - start saying it to other cops. Then maybe I'll have a side to root for. Right now, if both sides lose, I lose nothing.

Police officers are like Catholic priests: unlikely to say anything to their colleagues about illegal behavior beyond "don't get caught on tape."
