Rember that flaperon that washed up on Reunion Island about a month ago? it may not actually belong to the missing MH370 flight.
Oy.

Reason asks where are David Lisak's defenders? Lisak put forth the campus serial rapist assumption, which is the underpinning of the current federal Title IX/DOJ efforts, and it has been found wanting.

Fargo cops think telescope is a rifle, accost students with said scope, hilarity ensues.
Well...it is Fargo. Oh, you bet.

Gog; I'm not so sure about your take on that article. Yea, it could be a government bureaucrat's overreach; or it really could be about making the trail enjoyable for others.
I do a lot of hiking myself (haven't been to Baxter yet, but, I will one day) and yea, there are those that are quite boisterous and don't give two shits about others on the trail. I'd like to see them removed!
So what, good for him - he "ran" the trail in 46 days, wow what a record. He must be proud. He also comes across as an asshole.
The trail isn't his alone, and it isn't what a lot of hikers are on it for. So, some asshole can spray champaign all over the rocks on top - making it smell like a dirty bar? And the rest of us should put up with it? why?
There have been too many times I come across a group of hikers who are hanging out at a summit, smoking weed or drinking to the point of being assholes, and just generally don't care about others on the trail.
And there most certainly should be a limit to the number of people in a group. It is very annoying to be hiking with a small group (4 or 5) and then a large group of 40 or more come along like a f&cking parade disturbing the natural beauty and sound of the woods. These folks don't give a shit about anyone but themselves!
If people showed respect towards others there wouldn't be a need for rules. While I'm generally in favor of live and let live, folks like him make that hard to do.
I know that if I hiked for hours to make it to the top (carrying my own pack, not having someone else carry it for me so that I could "run"!) and wanted to take in the awesomeness of the summit and be proud of myself that I did it only to find that there was some asshole spraying champaign all over and having a "party" I'd be pissed.
Lastly, he was asked to keep it low key - he didn't. I'll bet that was a big reason for the charges. Had he privately celebrated and not gone so public - such as speaking with reporters - I suspect that there wouldn't be any charges.
And yea, I can think like an asshole myself; some of the "party people" at the top, making the summit experience miserable for others, start taking selfies, it is then I just want to push them over the edge shouting have a nice landing f&ckwit! Of course, I haven't done that (yet).

It deferentially looks at the ground and not the police officer or it gets the citation.
Give someone a little authority and then stand back and watch how they deal with it.
What do you mean, you opened champagne after you ran the entire Appalachian Trail?
That's against the rules. I'm moving the trail.

Instapundit draws a different set of lessons from hurricane Katrina.
My favorite? Be prepared, because basically you’re on your own.
