To Gog: Something very suspicious is going on - surely adults aren't THAT lazy when it comes to doing a little arithmetic before opening their mouths? I hate to say it, but I suspect the media are twisting facts.
But if they aren't, well, maybe that's just one more reason we should have raised the draft age instead of lowering the voting age. When there are so many people in their 20s who are simply not qualified for many different adult responsibilities, why do we let 18-year-olds do those things?

lenona, many 16 year olds are smarter and more responsible than octogenarians.
I always felt there should be a two part poll test.
Part 1
Answer the following question:
What form of government do we live under?
Anyone who answers "democracy," indeed any one failing to answer "Representative Republic" is barred from voting for the rest of their life.
--------------------------------------
After making it past that gauntlet the person voting must show a tax return proving they as an individual paid MORE in taxes to the government than they received in tax credits from the government, or credits from any government agency disbursing tax monies.
This should be the only criteria, not age. I'd trust a 14 year olds self interest over a retired senior citizen
Those failing this test can try again next election.
Those committing voter fraud should be tried for treason and publicly executed on their states capital steps on live, local public access.
Poll reveals citizen anger at Obama.

Because individualism is evil and gays are cannibals.

This is clearly among the primary purposes for which Al Gore invented the Internet.
