Am I a bad person because I love John Denver? ("Take Me Home, Country Roads" came up on Pandora, and I started singing along...uh, scaring my dog.)

Not bad, but showing a bit of age. I loved John Denver when I was younger. Of course, I played pirated tapes while driving my car, so I was bad!

It doesn't make you a bad person, but your dog has better taste in music! ;-)

Like your dog, Doonesbury'sUncle Duke wasn't a fan of the former Henry John Deutschendorf.

Aida prefers the sound of bacon sizzling.

If you start clapping along with "Thank God I'm a Country Boy!" people will give you the stink-eye. Dog will, too.

I was watching a documentary on John Denver on PBS a year or so ago and learned the origin of that song. While Denver did contribute to the writing of it, the original song was created by a then-husband and wife team: Bill Danoff & Taffy Nivert, who performed as "Fat City." Taffy was a real cutie back then. The documentary showed the trio performing the song live. I can't really make out Bill's voice but that's Taffy doing the high harmony.
I also hadn't known that Bill & Taffy went on to form the Starland Vocal Band, famous (or infamous) for their summer of '76 song "Afternoon Delight."

I don't think that you are a bad person at all, Ms. Alkon.
However, I feel like I should qualify that with the following notes:
* I have been known to sing along with 1970s trucker/CB radio songs in my car. (Remember "Convoy"?)
* Every now and then, when work is particularly stressful, I break out into either the "Green Acres" theme ("Faaaaaaaaaaaaaarm living is the life for me!") or "High Hopes" (with special emphasis on the "Oops, there goes another rubber tree plant" lyric).

Robert, I'm tacky, but I do not clap.

The only John Denver song I like is "Fly Away" with Olivia Newton-John on background vocals.

Come on, he had a great voice.
My favorite is Annie's song

That was a good documentary JD. I didn't know his father was one of the great pilots of his generation.

That song is the title song of 1973 movie "Sunshine".
The movie is a semi documentary of a bone cancer stricken young mother, who chose to die instead of going through chemo including cutting off her legs.
"Take it easy but take it." is my favorite line of the movie. Her choice was more nihilistic and hippy like attitude toward life in general.
We all are going back to home and she chose to walk back with her two legs attached. She was only 20 years old but that was her choice.

And we all should respect that.
