Sorry, Feminists, Historical Accuracy Is Not Sexism
There's some to-do in the UK over the new British passport, which features British historical figures.
Not surprisingly, a lot more of them were men than women, and feminists are getting panty-bunched over it.
What were the passport people supposed to do, put some laundress and some society lady on there just to get some female representation?
As Ella Whelan writes at Spiked:
The idea that I need to see Mary Wollstonecraft on every item in my handbag, from my passport to my cash, in order to feel important and valued is pathetic.

They have a QUEEN.
Apparently, that's not enough.

Also, the Iron Lady. But I'm guessing she died too recently to be considered "historical."

Related topic: Gay students protest the film "Stonewall" for being too violent. The Stonewall protests, riots really, were violent. The protesters did not simply stand there and call the cops nasty names. They exchanged blows. To whitewash this seems rather ungrateful. There is no disputing that we would not have the rights we currently enjoy had it not been for the Stonewall Riots.

Mary I
Mary Queen of Scots

Of all Western countries, Britain actually has had enough influential women that this shouldn't be an issue.
Elizabeth Scott was an odd choice. Her claim to fame is that she designed a theater. Perhaps she was chosen because she was so bland that her presence wouldn't offend anyone.

Not liberal enough.
I recently read a post about the most evil people in history. Several commenters thought Maggie Thatcher belonged on that list - alongside the likes of Mao, Stalin, and Attila the Hun.

Unbelievable on Stonewall, Patrick.
And I'd vote for Emma Peel -- and James Bond.

How about my favorite British lady, Mary Poppins?
Seriously, feminism does make women in general seem to be pathetic creatures. Why do women put up with feminism? Is it that the goody-bag of victimhood is to good to pass up?

RE: Iron Lady.
yep, I agree Conan. She was too "right wing."
And, I don't need to read polls, just talking to anyone I know from the UK - most of them consider Thatcher to be evil.
They seem to have the UK version of BDS (Bush Derangement Syndrome); everything is Thatcher's fault, all problems go back to her administration, blame Thatcher for everything!
RE: the Queen. Well, she is already on their money and most of the left wing does not want another royal to be so honored. Mary Wollstonecraft is left enough for them to honor.
And Emma Peel. yea, now that would be cool!
Patrick, Yes, the Stonewall riots (well before my time) were violent. It is a shame that they want to whitewash (can we still say whitewash or is that somehow or other racist today?) over them; it would also be a shame if they ignored the fact that the riots were violent because the cops were violent against gays to begin with. Hell, from some of what I have read over the years, even the general public was disgusted by the violence cops sometimes handed out to gays.

I'd have said "scullery maid" rather than "laundress", but that's just me.
Re Maggie: While blaming her for everything is de rigueur among the chattering classes and commies, she actually had massive support from the working classes who wanted to better themselves.
Of course, that was in the days when countries had a working class, rather than an underclass.

Even so, to put her on the same level of evil as Stalin, Hitler, and Mao is ridiculous - and a sign of an immature (or deranged) mindset. Many of the comments also insisted that George W. Bush belonged on the list and cited the now-disproven 1,000,000 innocent Iraqis died lie.
