Who's Burning Down Mosques?
Apparently Mosque attendees.
From the Houston Chronicle, Carol Christian and Leah Binkovitz write:
A Houston man has been arrested in connection with a suspected arson at a mosque on Christmas Day, but the motive for the crime remains a mystery, with the suspect maintaining he was a regular at the mosque.A spokeswoman for the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives confirmed that the suspect, 37-year-old Gary Nathaniel Moore of Houston, was arrested early Wednesday. Moore appeared in court at 7 a.m., spokeswoman Nicole Strong said, and bond was set at $100,000.
...According to a charging instrument released by the Harris County District Clerk, Moore told investigators at the scene that he has attended the storefront mosque for five years, coming five times per day to pray seven days per week.
As @Instapundit put it, "The good news is that without fake hate crimes, we'd hardly have any hate crimes at all."

Ha! I knew it!
It is so common nowadays for "hate" crimes to be some sort of hoax that I now think that right away; maybe I should be placing bets on such and win big?

I think that so often, charles. From the time I was in New York and Al Sharpton was railing about the "wrong" done to Tawana Brawley.

Charles, I am afraid I have to disagree with your blanket statement.
I am unaware of any evidence of any significant problem with hoax "hate" crimes directed at Jews.
Incidentally, according to federal statistics, there are substantially more "hate" crimes directed at Jews than any other group categorized.
While I have no statistical evidence to support it, my suspicion is that hoax "hate" crimes tend to be mostly among the usual perpetually aggrieved groups.

Jews are no longer a protected minority. Therefore, crimes directed at Jews are not hate crimes. Q.E.D.
