Bernie Sanders Gets A Feminist Spanking Over Campus Rape Views
At Slate, Nora Caplan-Bricker takes Sanders to task for being "out of step" with young feminists on his (wow, how crazy!) notion that campus rape accusations should not be funneled to a campus kangaroo court, but sent to the criminal justice system.
He said this on Monday night:
Rape and assault is rape or assault whether it takes place on a campus or on a dark street. And if a student rapes a fellow student, that has got to be understood to be a very serious crime. It has got to get outside of the school and have a police investigation. And that has got to take place.Too many schools now are saying, well, this is a student issue, let's deal with it. I disagree with that. It is a crime, and it has to be treated as a serious crime. And you are seeing now the real horror of many women who have been assaulted or raped sitting in a classroom alongside somebody who raped them. Rape is a very, very serious crime. It has to be prosecuted, and it has to be dealt with.
Caplan-Bricker:
Some campus rape survivors do go to the police and the courts, but many don't want to submit themselves to a grueling process that's highly unlikely to result in a conviction.
Yes, it's so much easier to just remove men's due process rights so you can have them expelled from school.
Because some woman said so.
Caplan-Bricker:
With his stumble this week, Sanders provided a reminder that Clinton isn't just running as our potential first woman president. She's also the candidate with the deepest genuine knowledge of the issues women face.
Because so many of us have been sneakily sending classified documents from private servers and have people questioning our role in the Benghazi terror attack, to just pull a few off the top.

I'm watching the world sink into madness. Its amazing.

With his stumble this week, Sanders provided a reminder that Clinton isn't just running as our potential first woman president. She's also the candidate with the deepest genuine knowledge of the issues women face.
So Sanders says rapists should be jailed, and Clinton basically called the women who accused her husband of rape gold digging whores and Sanders is the sexist?

My reaction as well luj. But, it's actually a very honest assessment of HC's understanding and knowledge. She went after women instead of men, but knows the tactics very well. I'm not sure if that's what Nora Caplan-Bricker meant by 'genuine knowledge', but it's true.
She's also the candidate with the deepest genuine knowledge of the issues women face.
She understands two issues that women face. Bill, then when they complain, Hillary.

Clinton is the candidate with the deepest genuine knowledge of the war on women. She's been prosecuting it for decades.

The sad thing? Bernie's position is much, much better than Marco Rubio's reach across the aisle to Kristen Gillibrand and her bill that makes things even harder for men on campus.

So, Bernie's out of step with young feminists?
Hmmm. Bernie's statement that crimes should be handled by the police sounds eminently sensible.
Maybe young feminists are out of touch with reality.
I really never thought I'd come down on the same side of an issue with Bernie Sanders, but on this one, I feel the Bern.

Why is campus rape so much more worthy of extralegal prosecution than non-campus rape?
Off campus, these survivors must submit themselves to that same "grueling process."

"Some campus rape survivors do go to the police and the courts, but many don't want to submit themselves to a grueling process that's highly unlikely to result in a conviction."
Especially when their accusations are BS.
"She's also the candidate with the deepest genuine knowledge of the issues women face."
Hahahaha! They're talking about Bill Clinton's wife! Hahahaha!

That should have been:
Yes, Hillary does indeed know about the "grueling process that's highly unlikely to result in a conviction." After all, she helped create it.
Conan the Grammarian at January 15, 2016 2:41 PM
Real rape is indeed that serious -- and if these campus feminists were talking about real rape, they would agree with Sanders.
But the whole point of campus "rape activism" is to railroad innocent guys for being guys. Real rape simply doesn't happen there (and the rare exception already does become a police matter, as it should).
The only question here is whether Sanders actually fails to apprehend these facts, or is actually calling out the rest of his party on the BS with which they have surrounded this issue. So far, my bet is that he really is that ignorant.
