Wow -- there's an incredible bit in this piece about a woman who didn't even feel victimized but was considered a victim because another woman decided she was. The young man involved was suspended.

Congratulations, animal rights wacko birds! Mission Accomplished!
Nearly a year ago, the world erupted in outrage when an American hunter killed “Cecil the Lion” in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe. Hunters were demonized, a man’s livelihood was destroyed and major corporations changed their policies to keep people from enjoying legal hunting. Baffled conservationists in African countries warned that pressuring hunters to stay out of Africa would harm wildlife. The gibbering gibbons of the anti-gun and anti-hunting movements continued their persecution of hunters. Now the same park in Zimbabwe where Cecil met his end may need to slaughter 200 lions due to the drought of wealthy hunters.
The problem with the campus and other US academics in a nutshell (emphasis mine):
My favorite “expression of apocalyptic foreboding” is still Naomi Wolf, after advising Al Gore to don earth toned togs in 2000 to bring out his inner alpha male and before becoming an ISIS truther in 2014, writing a marvelously paranoid screed for the Huffington Post in the fall of 2008 that, as NewsBusters paraphrased, “Sarah ‘Evita’ Palin to Usher in Rovian Police State.” But then, as German intellectual Günter Grass once said, “You American intellectuals — you want so desperately to feel besieged and persecuted!”
Waiting for the lumbersexual bubble to burst in Detroit. You may want to put on your HAZMAT suit for this one, its gonna be ugly:
The boom-bubble period is making people go bonkers. Again. Entrepreneurs, business owners, individuals, and consumers have become unhinged, going well beyond sustainable business models and reasonable spending patterns. The excess of credit along with the low cost of obtaining it has allowed business ventures to be funded that otherwise would not have been able to raise capital. Business capital is therefore wasted on projects that are doomed to failure in the long run, if not the short term.
And this story gets better. I did some research on Filson. The company sells $500 duffel bags and backpacks; $700 garment bags; and $100 nylon totes, among other overpriced stuff. And it is all really ugly. The business model for the company is to rely on an old name from a century ago...
But hay, not arrested, so nobody has to bale her out for giving her foal access to her shootin' iron.

Mark Riptoe gives the what-for to the NYTimes:
The same government agency that has presided over the greatest explosion in Type II diabetes in the history of the human species is recommending that both growing boys and adult males eat less protein. They want us to eat more vegetables. Yes, potatoes are fine. And more bread, just hold off on the butter.
Then the real nonsense starts, coming at you like the spacecraft in a J. J. Abrams movie. Dr. Elsie Taveras, a pediatrician somewhere in the northeast, says this about growing boys:
They’re always hungry, and that hunger, and a lack of satiety with small portions, leads to impulsive eating and eating large portions.
Right, Elsie. Because they’re hungry. Trying to grow makes you hungry. Small meals based on cabbage and quinoa leave a kid looking for some ham and cheese. I guess Elsie forgot how she felt when she was a growing boy.
The government should create the 28th Amendment stating that anyone who dares to get Gender/Social studies degree, has to perform a mandatory 1 year charity work in a third world nation.
And I'm not talking about charity as in supporting the local economy in Cancun by drinking Tequilas every weekend during the off season.
