Yes, this was the '70's and England but it's why we need to be aware and vocal. "Government" is bought and paid for by those wishing their own interests to be promoted. It was then and is now.
"Patricia Hewitt was forced to apologise after it was revealed that she had called for the age of sexual consent to be lowered to ten."
"In his letter asking the judge to show mercy, [Tom] Delay, also a Republican, emphasized Hastert's faith.
"He is a good man that loves the Lord," Delay wrote. "He doesn't deserve what he is going through."

> We're Number One!
I don't know this for sure... And the fact that there's not enough solid reportage in the world to confirm the point is much the problem. The places with the most connectedness, economic and otherwise, to friends and to strangers, are the safest.
So I don't believe for a muthafuckin' moment that the United States, in most any two-day period you could describe, was host to the most "mass" attacks, or killing.
Reason Magazine and others well describe the flexibility of the word "mass" by anti-gun types.
Consider how much humanity lives in essentially unrecorded poverty in the hills of Java and the mountains and deserts of western China. And sub-Saharan Africa. Huge swaths of our planet are basically lawless when not constrained by the village Big Man.
Can you believe that in all those realms, home to billions, there have been no marauding attacks by warlords, rival clans, insane/retarded loners from the next valley, or drunken warlords?
This gets back to my annoyance at Amy's many international commenters who are so fascinated with our politics and social matters: It's cheaper (and much more convenient for their local authorities) for them to consume media about our country than their own. They think they're Americans anyway.
We're already the third most populous nation on the planet. Many more people are on their way.
I see the point of your sarcasm, but this is a wonderful, and tremendously safe, place to live. And get this: You can defend yourself. If you want.

Congressional sex creep Hastert's fellow slimeballs vomit forth letters of support.
