Remember what happened when Obamacare raised employee costs beyond sustainable levels? Employers began cutting full-timers and giving only part-time hours in order to fall below Obamacare program thresholds.
Employers realized that not only Obamacare also but an entire spectrum of future social welfare costs would be loaded onto their backs. For example, they knew they would be forced (by various devices such as eligibility for government contracts, environmentalist & regulatory harassment, threats levied against their customers, etc.) to train and employ the vast army of unskilled, unproductive migrants pouring in over the nation's borders.
To head this off, employers accelerated their push into robotics. For example, Amazon introduced moveable pallets in their warehouses, and then began developing bots which could pick packages from the pallets. (It's no coincidence the most aggressive push to date is coming from a major employer of low-skilled workers.)
Now come indications government has figured this out, and is laying groundwork to create disincentives to automation and a future cash cow:
A prediction: to throw the citizenry off the track, bureaucrats will at first imply that a "robot" is a stand-alone device doing industrial work. Later, the rest of us will discover the definition has migrated to include the ever-increasing array of "smart" devices in our homes and vehicles (i.e. the self-driving car of the future will be deemed a robot), and that we are all now "employers" with obligations to fund entitlements for the vast underclass being created by our governing elites.

Hoo boy, the mental gymnastics from a lady in the comments section.
She keeps saying she's given it a lot of thought. I still haven't seen how's she'll keep the drug cartels from throwing in a crate of select-fire AK-47s and a crate of ammo for them with their next shipment.
What? you mean to say that the cartels will turn down easy money because they don't want blood on their hands?

@IRA,
Her monologue about how to fix the gun problem in America sounds more like Disney's Marvel Cinematic universe.
I love this part where she admits that guns solve can solve the problem, and thus, we need to get rid of guns:
Yes, France has had the Charlie Hebdo incident: One incident in a nation with gun controls. I happen to know that some incidents in the USA have been prevented by the intervention of armed citizens, but I also know that there have been a lot of times when that intervention wasn't there and tragedy occurred, and still occurs far too often. The present system isn't working. Time to dump it.
Even Russian/French Judges will give her a perfect score for that backflip.

To all my liberal friends, this is what gun control looks like
A band of Twitter trolls alleging to be from the Middle East spent Sunday and Monday repeatedly reporting “atheist” and pro-LGBT girls and women to the local authorities in places where blasphemy laws allow for punishments as severe as death.
Sounds like Twitter's Safety board and Anita Sarkeesian hardest hit: do they suspend the twitter trolls outing LGBT and atheist types and stand accused of islamophobia, or turn a blind eye and hope things work for the best?
Choices, choices...

Ooookay. I'm gonna go with the granny witness and take the police media statement with a grain of salt on this one.
Muslim immigrant teen gets two Muslim immigrant boys to strip and urinate on five year old girl while he films it.
Apparently there's been a lot of rape/knife/wrong country puffery of the circumstances blasted out to the interwebs. Personally, I think it's bad enough as it is.
This shortly after getting a ticket for doing the same shtick in a restaurant.

Jessica Baxter and her husband own the Bettie Page House. The mural was a 30th birthday gift from a friend to her husband. It's been a bit of a Seattle fixture for 10 years, and now, a decade later, someone has a problem with it.
