Back in 1948, when inflation had rendered meaningless the minimum wage established a decade earlier, the unemployment rate among 16-17-year-old black males was under 10 percent. But after the minimum wage was raised repeatedly to keep up with inflation, the unemployment rate for black males that age was never under 30 percent for more than 20 consecutive years, from 1971 through 1994. In many of those years, the unemployment rate for black youngsters that age exceeded 40 percent and, for a couple of years, it exceeded 50 percent.
The damage is even greater than these statistics might suggest. Most low-wage jobs are entry-level jobs that young people move up out of, after acquiring work experience and a track record that makes them eligible for better jobs. But you can't move up the ladder if you don't get on the ladder.
How can you claim I'm a misogynist if I self-identify as a woman?

Science done right. Take theory, make prediction, look for signs that prediction is right, or not:
It is widely assumed that sea levels have been rising in recent decades largely in response to anthropogenic global warming. However, due to the inherently large contribution of natural oscillatory influences on sea level fluctuations, this assumption lacks substantiation. Instead, natural factors or internal variability override the detection of an anthropogenic signal and may instead largely explain the patterns in sea level rise in large regions of the global oceans.
Scientists who have recently attempted to detect an anthropogenic signal in regional sea level rise trends have had to admit that there is “no observable sea-level effect of anthropogenic global warming,” or that the “sea level rise pattern does not correspond to externally forced anthropogenic sea level signal,” and that sea level “trends are still within the range of long-term internal decadal variability.”
A top official of the Syrian opposition said he’s convinced Russia’s intent is use the methods it deployed to destroy Grozny. The capital of the Chechen Republic was the scene of bloody combat in 1994-95, and then again in 1999-2000, early in Putin’s first presidency. At that point leaflets were dropped offering people safe passage out of the city, and after a brief pause the real devastation began. In 2003, the United Nations reportedly called Grozny “the most destroyed city on earth.” The war was over, and on Putin’s terms.

Deer Hillary,
What was your "road to Damascus moment?"
Newsbusters points out that back in May, a Clinton political advisor sent a statement to Bloomberg News that Clinton believes Heller was "wrongly decided."
But on Wallace's show, Clinton changed her tune and said she didn't want to see the Heller decision overturned.
Closer to home, Operation Choke Point strikes again:
Since the Administration’s frontal assaults on the Second Amendment have not yielded the results they want, they have resorted to Executive Branch action to try to move the ball. In this they are pressuring financial institutions to deny banking services to the targeted industries.
While Congress is trying to put an end this abuse, Operation Choke Point is expanding into new realms. This past Friday Hogue Inc. announced that Wells Fargo has refused to do business with them, because they ostensibly manufacture “weapons”.
Apparently, classic board games are getting a makeover so that it's pretty much impossible to lose. Those who remember the original games are pretty mad.
Maybe kids who still cry over everything shouldn't be playing "big kid" games in the first place?
"Also, I can't imagine board games hold much mass appeal to a generation, which has had hypermanic, overstimulating, electronic tablet and phone games shoved in their grubby mitts the second they come out.
"After all, what appeal has waiting your turn, rolling the dice, moving a set number of steps and possibly losing, over a flashy, noisy, animated, instantly gratifying and everybody-wins-and-ego-stroked game?!?"
Ms Nokidsandhappy is probably best staying that way. Plenty of kids still enjoy board games.
To correct Herbalgeek, "Are today's kids really this fucking fragile that they can't handle a goddamn buzzer or landing on a loser spot in the game of LIFE?"
Kids don't have any money. Their parents are the ones who can't handle their little crotch fruit losing. They are the ones buying these games as well as complaining to the manufacturers.
"Now remember, when things look bad and it looks like you're not gonna make it, then you gotta get mean. I mean plumb, mad-dog mean. 'Cause if you lose your head and you give up then you neither live nor win."

Obviously no grown ups writing this BLM manifesto.
1. "We demand that the government repair the harms that have been done to Black communities in the form of reparations and targeted long-term investments. We also demand a defunding of the systems and institutions that criminalize and cage us."
Defund the systems and institutions BEFORE you give out reparations and fund long-term investments. Not sure what NEW institutions will invest in these matters but it sure sounds good w/o getting into specifics.
2. "We stand in solidarity with our international family against the ravages of global capitalism and anti-Black racism, human-made climate change, war, and exploitation."
Man, I had no idea that racists cops were so powerful and had such an impact on the world. Too bad black on black violence is not on the list as that kills a lot of blacks, prevents families from enjoying the simple pleasures of sitting on porches, playing in their yards, and hanging out together. But hey, that climate change is a bitch.
I'll stop. It's too easy and a waste of time.

True enough. Reminds me of a very well-known book on health and sociology. Quote: "It's almost impossible to get my kids to eat well with all that advertising on TV for junk foods. If I don't get their favorite sugar-coated cereal, they keep pestering me until I do."
That was about 45 years ago! Yet, there was no indication that there was anything unusual or wimpy about the mother's attitude.
It's very simple. Just say: "The doctor says that kids who keep complaining after I've said no, need extra rest and have to go to bed early." Then keep putting them to bed an hour or two early until they stop whining. No means no. Yes, they'll cry at first, but they'll get over it. They HAVE to get over it, for their health's sake.

Exactly Lenona. People haven't changed much in the last 10,000 years much less the last 45. That mother may not have been unusual but she was wimpy. You pointed out the solution. It works most every time. If the ancient greeks had cheaper and more durable writing options I expect you would have complaints about little Agga not wanting to eat her lamb instead of playing with her toys.
