I suspect they want the rest of us to subsidize their chosen lifestyle if they can't get a better paying job than a barista at Starbucks.

As for the rival publishers who underbid for the book? “They are happy they lost the bidding war,” the source said. “They are breathing a sigh of relief that it isn’t theirs.”
“When I, as a white female, listen to music that uses the N word, and I’m in the car, or, especially when I’m with all white friends, is it O.K. to sing along?” NOPE! OKAY TO LISTEN BUT NOT SING!
"And don’t say “you guys.” It could be interpreted as leaving out women ... NOPE! IS Y'ALL OK?
THIS ONE IS NOT GOING TO END WELL!
"In addition to diversity sessions, many campuses train students on exactly what constitutes sexual consent as well as how to intervene when they see fellow students drinking excessively or poised to engage in nonconsensual sexual behavior."

Patrick, as much as I'd love to give credit for this to Dorothy, Judy Garland has been dead for much too long to have anything to do with it.

One especially stupid comment on Wells-Fargo's ad: "Chris McCarrell, who has also featured in the cast of Les Miserables, wrote: 'Whispers. We make more money than your botanistttttttttttt.'"
I'm sure he does; aside from a few PHD's who become full professors or seed company gene-splicing wizards, botanists are near the bottom end of the pay scale for STEM graduates. He probably even makes more than a successful engineer, when he is working. But he's in the top 1% of Hollywood.
99% of those showing up at every casting call don't average as much pay from acting as a 16 year old high-school student can make working part time at McDonald's. They need a day job to make a living - and if they majored in the performing arts, or any sort of art, that day job will pay less than almost anything in STEM.
But there is another aspect to this: to be able to make casting calls and accept one-day roles in advertisements or as extras, actor and ballerina wanna-bes can't accept a good steady job that requires working to a pre-determined schedule. They must be able to take off work on a day's notice. Restaurants can work with that if they can build a sufficiently large file of servers that can be called in on short notice to replace an absentee - but even there, being the server who only shows up when you please means you miss out on overtime and many of the hours when the tips are highest. A research lab cannot work that way at all.
The cause of death was listed as "liquidation when struck by bucket of water wielded by one Judy Garland."

What do you do when you are your own pirate? Why won't Warner Bros give itself permission to advertise it's own movies? ;)

Nah, Sixclaws, all he did was ask them out for coffee. That counts as sexual harassment in the modern, frigid, feminist-sterilized workplace. :-)
Amy blogged about this already, but this is for anyone who merely skims unseeingly over her headlines and goes straight to the links page:
