Last night it was in my twitter feed, I think via Shkreli. That will soon be as 'media' as it gets. Tonight I saw it a monitor (no sound) on TMZ, though I don't know what they said about it. Does that count?

While it's clear the man in the video was assaulted, it seems from initial police reports that the assault stemmed from a traffic incident. Bystanders are heard taunting him for voting for Trump, but it's not clear from the video itself or the statements from police whether he did in fact say he voted for Trump, and if he did, whether that was the impetus for the attack.

It's also not clear, as some publications are claiming, that the battery suspects in the video were supporters of Trump's Democratic opponent, Hillary Clinton. One woman can be heard off camera asking, "Are you gonna pay for my shit?" which seems to align with the police statement that the fight stemmed from a traffic accident resulting in property damage.

Further, the racial undertones of some of the posts surrounding the video raises the possibility that the incident is being exploited in order to further enflame tensions on the heels of a charged and contentious election.

Snopes is not apolitical, though they might claim to be.

David Wilcox, 49, said he was about to turn left from Kedzie Avenue to Roosevelt Road around 1 p.m. Wednesday when a black sedan pulled up and scraped the right side of his Pontiac Bonneville.

"I stopped and parked. And I asked if they had insurance, and the next thing that I knew they were beating the s--- out of me," Wilcox said Thursday.

A phone video shot from a bus stop at the intersection shows Wilcox being knocked to the pavement as five people gather around him. A man in the group straddles his back and punches Wilcox with both hands.

As the fight picks up, people on the sidewalk away from the struggle yell taunts that include "You voted Trump," "Beat his ass" and "Don't vote Trump."

There's laughter as Wilcox rolls on his back and covers his face. Two people hit and kick him. Wilcox gets up and tries to get back in his car, but someone repeatedly punches him until he slumps by the side of the vehicle.

Someone else then gets into the driver's seat of the Bonneville, and Wilcox tries to get him out. People shove him away, but Wilcox grabs onto a door frame and is dragged along as the Bonneville pulls away.

...Wilcox said he did vote for Trump on Tuesday, but no one in the crowd would have known that. He said the taunts appeared to come from people watching the beating, including one person at the bus stop who he heard say, "Yeah, it's one of them white boy Trump guys."

Wilcox believes the attackers, who were black, were egged on by the bystanders. "They intensified it, aggravated it and made it more than it was."

Can you imagine the yelling if he had been prepared to stop 5 guys from beating him up. Cue #BLM protests.

My default position on such is that they're to be treated as staged until fully investigated by relevant authorities.

Why? because pretty much every single hate "crime" reported on college campuses over the last 10 or so years has either been due to an over reaction to something innocuous, or was self inflicted.

Also, since they've been told repeatedly that Trump = Hitler, there is no actual sin in making shit up because it could have happened.

Also, there's pretty much a camera everywhere, and any real commotion is going to be recorded.

I don't care if the initial reason for the fight has nothing to do with voting or not voting for Trump. The fact is that some blacks turned his beating into a "that's what you get for voting for Trump."

If it had turned into white guys beating up a black man for voting for Obama the initial reason for the fight would NOT matter. It would have been about nothing but "racists!"

That ordinary Americans were attack for going to Trump rallies should have been headline news this year - yet it wasn't.

That ordinary Americans have been called racist and all other sorts of names doesn't matter to the left and the news media.

THAT is one reason for Trump's win.

As for the original post by Amy - it is more surprising to me when a "hate" crime is an actual crime instead of one being made up by someone looking to claim victim status. It seems to me that the fake hate crimes way out number the real ones.

And just how come blacks and other non-white groups seemed to NEVER be charged with a hate crime even though they commit them quite regularly? (rhetorical question - we all know the answer is that Blacks cannot, by the left's way of thinking, be "racist")

Just imagine the scene if the woman shouting off-camera had stepped in to protect the guy. That's one I'd like to see.
The left is throwing a tantrum now because they didn't get what they want. Normally I'd just let them cry it out and reassure them that we're all in this together. Maybe end up with a hug.
But they're turning to street violence. Is it because they can't see how their own media manipulates them? 'Racist' being one of the main dog-whistles. It's a bit hilarious really.

I'm not going to deny race crimes are happening out there, but it's also true my Facebook feed has been full of a lot of the "I just read the headline without vetting it and now I'm sharing it will everyone" hate crime posts.

I also find it ironic that these are the same people who screamed every time someone posted an "untrue" article about Hillary. Oh, the irony.

Also, you can blame the SJW's in part for Trump getting elected. One can only take so much of the overly PC crap before one gets tired of it.
