Throw Martin Luther King Out The Window: The Broad Brush On Who's Racist Now
Now, we've come full circle with what's racist -- with the new thing to do being actively, unabashedly judging people by their skin color first, and never mind "the content of their character."
David Marcus writes at The Federalist:
Privilege theory and the concept of systemic racism dealt the death blow to the détente. In embracing these theories, minorities and progressives broke their essential rule, which was to not run around calling everyone a racist. As these theories took hold, every white person became a racist who must confess that racism and actively make amends. Yet if the white woman who teaches gender studies at Barnard with the Ben Shahn drawings in her office is a racist, what chance do the rest of have?Within the past few years, as privilege theory took hold, many whites began to think that no matter what they did they would be called racist, because, in fact, that was happening. Previously there were rules. They shifted at times, but if adhered to they largely protected one from the charge of racism. It's like the Morrissey lyric: "is evil just something you are, or something you do." Under the détente, racism was something you did; under privilege theory it is something you are.
That shift, from carefully directed accusations of racism for direct actions to more general charges of unconscious racism, took away the carrot for whites. Worse, it led to a defensiveness and feeling of victimization that make today's whites in many ways much more tribal than they were 30 years ago. White people are constantly told to examine their whiteness, not to think of themselves as racially neutral. That they did, but the result was not introspection that led to reconciliation, it was a decision that white people have just as much right to think of themselves as a special interest group as anyone else.
This is, effectively, racial pre-crime, right out of Philip K. Dick. You're racist and a victimizer simply by existing. Pretty sick stuff.
And what's perhaps sickest is that it creates -- along with the victimizer class it casts -- a cast of perma-victims, by dint of the color of their skin.
If you're told constantly that you're a victim, does that help you rise to your potential -- or sitting waiting for somebody to come save you (typically the government)?

A big problem with calling a group racist at the start is that eventually some of them will take that to heart and become actual racists. Because if you're going to do the time, you might as well do the crime.

Right. Being told you failed as a human being just because you were born white is an ugly thing. Doesn't exactly promote "we're all one" thinking, but just the opposite.

There's a song in "Avenue Q" with the line "Everyone's a little bit racist." Which I find in my case to be true.
Of course just based on where I live I only have the skill set for hating Mexicans and blacks. (Salvadorans, Guatemalans, etc. get lumped in under the former) I haven't been around Hindus or Persians or some of the others to learn to hate them properly. I'd have to hit the search engines to learn the stereotypes and identifying characteristics.
Wouldn't want to use a Pakistani stereotype on a Kurd now, would we? Maybe some of that free college and a dose of critical race theory could help out.
And yes, don't get me started on white people. I've seen them up close. Sometimes it ain't pretty.

"Let’s start with the media. The media have been demonizing Republican presidential candidates and calling them racists, sexists etc. since at least 2000 – I wasn’t paying attention in 1996 or earlier "
I could assure that author that it goes back to Eisenhower at least. Maybe farther.
I've compared this before to a degenerate sort of religion. Picture this: A preacher is trying to proselytize a particular audience. The pitch goes like this: "Your group has original sin, and it's a mortal sin. There is no possibility of salvation. In our church, you will always be condemned." At which point the audience says, "This religion sucks", and they go back to playing Pokemon or whatever they were doing. The preacher walks away puzzled and angry: "Why don't these heathens see what a great religion this is? They must be in league with the devil. We'll have to destroy them." And then the preacher will wonder why the pews get emptier every Sunday that passes.
Cousin Dave at November 15, 2016 8:23 AM
This is also like original sin: you are guilty for things white people did 200 yrs ago. But the game is rigged: the regular enslavement of whites by arabs for 500 years + is simply denied, as is slavery in Asia and within Africa and by native americans. Many many whites came to America as indentured servants (ie slaves) for a period of like 5 years to pay their way over. Doesn't count? Why not? Many of them were worked to death.
If we are guilty of what our ancestors did, then we have all committed robbery and rape and murder, we have all been part of a conquering army. This applies to the SJW crowd too. No one is clean using this approach. But how does this help?

Everyone's A Little Bit Racist.

Of the adult population, straight white males only make up maybe 20%. To maintain such a thorough oppression of women, gays, and all minorities, they must be tightly organized. I seem to have missed my invitation to the committee meetings for oppressors, what with my 2 jobs, cutting the grass, painting the house, teaching my kids to read, and having black people and foreigners over for dinner.

I'll carefully consider the opinions of people who despise me... Actually, I will not, not a bit. I'll ignore them.

Basically per the "protesters" and MSM, racist defined by how you voted.
I guess if you wear the "right" T-shirt you can safely go anywhere. Kinda how those pollsters got answered.

That's the thing though, that's what the social justice warriors are saying as well.
Go down that path and the whole world is blind.
It's counterproductive to not know what these guys say and why they say it.
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle."

I'd think it would be more like 33%, aren't white people about 76% of the population, and of those, aren't slightly less than half male? Take out a few for the gays...

I R A Darth Aggie, your link to https://ombreolivier.liberty.me/scalzis-idiot-racism-argument/ was terrific, thanks for posting that.

I find it difficult to talk about this stuff in my current community, which is pretty small, great people, very liberal, I think both links posted go along way to condensing my thoughts, so thanks.

Non-hispanic white men are about 23% of the U.S. population.

- and incompetent at it, given the rates at which they die on the job and the ways in which they completely-dominate all the most-dangerous, hardest, dirtiest and worst-paid fields of employment. Women are in the majority in higher education, where minorities also enjoy significant and specific advantages. Women (on average) pay less in taxes, while consuming more public services, women are systematically treated less-severely by the CJS for the same crimes. And so forth.
That's a terrible oppression that straight, white cis-gendered males are putting down, there.
