Many years ago, before this blog even existed, our esteemed hostess once told me that it was rude to give unsolicited advice.
But since they obviously feel that they're close enough to us to commit this breach of etiquette to be candid with us, I think it's only fitting we return the favor.
To the gay guy in this video: Try toning down the flamboyance just a tad. People will pick up on the fact that you're gay. It doesn't have to happen with the first word out of your mouth. I mean, Richard Simmons can get away with it, because he's an exercise guru who's helped millions of people lose weight. But it's a lot less forgivable on you, whose only contribution to the world is...this video.
To the black guy in this video: Since you're advising my race on how to act, could you guys tone down the crime a bit? I mean, black males are what? 6% of the population? Yet they commit over half the murders. And over half the robbery. Basically, according to FBI crime statistics, you're over-represented in every crime, with the one exception of DUI. Even in white collar crimes, such as embezzlement, black people are seriously overrepresented.
I kinda think that's a lot more pressing than telling us white guys not to use the word "woke." (No can do, by the way. My cats were playing last night and they woke me up.)
To the Hispanic guy, three words: diet and exercise.
Fat acceptance is not a thing. You, like so many others in the body positivity movement, may try to convince yourself that you're okay with your ponderous fat body, but your heart, your joints, your blood sugar, your cholesterol will likely soon remind you that they're not okay with your weight.
Stop kidding yourself. Lose the weight.
To the blonde girl: okay, if you're going to put yourself in a video seen by millions of people, try making yourself look presentable. At least run a comb through your hair. Maybe a touch of makeup to hide the blemishes.
And I'll try to overlook that your 20-year-old self-righteous ass just tried to be conciliatory by assuring us white males that "some of [us] are doing a good job."

You gotta bake cakes for gay weddings or else, but this guy can tell you to go fuck yourself because you voted for Trump? Most people don't need a cake to survive, but in Maine you probably want a reliable source of heat.
The Trump voters should put up a picket line, and block all deliveries.
Hey, fellow white guys! MTV has taken it upon themselves to tell us what should be our New Year's resolutions.
I got to the first appearance of the black guy, then killed the tab. My thought: Deer MTV white guys, go fuck yourselves with the barbed cock of Satan.

Maureen Dowd publishes a note from a Trump supporter. I'm dazed and confused. Who is this person, and what have you done with Maureen?
Here is a final word to my Democratic friends. The election is over. There will not be a do-over. So let me bid farewell to Al Sharpton, Ben Rhodes and the Clintons. Note to Cher, Barbra, Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham: Your plane is waiting. And to Jon Stewart, who talked about moving to another planet: Your spaceship is waiting. To Bruce Springsteen, Jay Z, Beyoncé and Katy Perry, thanks for the free concerts. And finally, to all the foreign countries that contributed to the Clinton Foundation, there will not be a payoff or a rebate.
If you count gender as diversity, otherwise it's more of the same.

Catholic University of America is hosting a "Catholicism and libertarianism" meeting, and guess what? they didn't invite any actual libertarians, Catholic or otherwise.
Patrick,
I can not get the link to work but I must know, what is wrong with the word "woke" and what should it be replaced with? I had no idea that it was so contentious!

Who took over the Washington Post and allowd this paragraph to be published? thoughtcrime!
Just how incompetent is the Obama administration? It turns out they knew the Russians were behind the Democratic National Committee and attempted Republican National Committee hackings, but according to NBC News, decided not to take any decisive action because they were assuming a Hillary Clinton victory, and therefore felt President Clinton could deal with the Russians when she took office.

Not your fault. MTV, apparently vexed by the obscene number of dislikes this video was generating, they removed it. Then they put it back up again. Then, apparently, it was beset by a huge number of dislikes again, so they took it back down.
As for why the word "woke" is so contentious, it seems there's a slang meaning attached to this word. There is the traditional, of course, like "I woke up this morning."
But "to be woke" means "to be aware." If you describe someone as "woke," it means they're on it. They know what's going on. There on top of things. Can't put anything past them.

Most folks here likely know about Shorpy's photo blog, but if someone doesn't let's fix that:
http://www.shorpy.com/
Scroll down to review the photo galleries, listed along the right-hand margin.
The comments under the individual photos are often fascinating. It's amazing what people know about what's depicted.

One other thing: at Shorpy's, be sure to click the photos. They blow up big, in fascinating detail.
