It's Saturday night, and I've got to go to bed (early flight from San Antonio back to LA), so you pick the topics. I'll post more on Sunday.

The other day I chanced across this video, part 1 of a 2-part documentary about a youth prison in the UK:

It seems there are numerous other such documentaries - have a look down the sidebar.

No link Amy, just wanted to let you know I sent you an email yesterday about "a modest proposal." Thanks. :-)

No link, but a sign my daughter spotted at the Women's March in Philadelphia:
"There will be hell toupée!"
Although I was wondering: If The Donald, rich as he is, really wears a hairpiece (and I don't think he does), why would he pay for such a bad one?

Just out of curiosity. Can women do these kind of protests in the Middle East?

What do you mean with actions have consequences?

As a watcher of the first and second seasons of "The Apprentice," I saw an episode set at an airfield in which Donald's hair was blown about. He joked to the camera, "at least now people will know it's my own hair."
I dont' think he wears a hairpiece. As gaudy as his tastes are, if he wore a hairpiece, it would be gold-embossed and he would spend half his time telling how great a hairpiece it is, better than anyone else's.

Thanks for links Crid.
Dovetails nicely with what T Cowen has been blogging about for ages, the great stagnation. We live in interesting times

Wonder when this cheerful little device shows up on Amy's Amazon round up?

Tho in the comments section, a fellow offers up advice on how to bake bacon a pound at a time. Baked bacon is the bees knees!

It's the sanctimony, y'know? These people work so very hard to make social distance from others that we wonder how they might have earned such distinction.
Adoption of retarded infants? Curing of cancers? Bringing water to the deserts? Restoring sight to the blind? Charity? Anything at all?
No. Most of these people are socially needful. They're lonely and desperate for adoration. By some unspoken collapse of mores, they've never actually reached into the world to do anything for anyone... But they presume themselves worthy our of deepest gratitude for holding the correct beliefs about how distant third parties should spend money on distant fourth parties.
It's a mess.
