Southern California: The Wild World Of Weather Weenies
It rained more than three drops over the past few days, and all over Los Angeles, the lights went out.
Yes, Los Angeles: First world power prices; third-world power grid:
We've got the dog on a little wheel, following a piece of bacon, to keep the lights on. https://t.co/G3j3G5g0A6

According to a friend of mine in Studio City, "more than three drops" considerably understates the amount of rain you got. She says there was a river running down her street, and a sinkhole opened up and swallowed two cars.

I saw that.
And yes, it was very rainy, but we are ill-prepared for even the slightest sky sniffle here.

Best reason yet for CalExit: Throw us out now before you have to pay to bring our power grid up to mid-20th century standards.

The drivers certainly are. That was one of the first things I noticed when I moved to southern California from Massachusetts 40 years ago. It's hilarious when an LA flatlander takes a drive to the mountains when the roads are the least bit icy.

The bitterness of your sarcasm is completely misplaced.
And you need to find it again before the Monday storm system moves in, because the assholes out here are useless on the longest, straightest, widest freeways on the flatlands as well.
Swear to God, when someone on a radio station whispers "teardrop," these clowns start slamming into each others.

Girlfriend, bring me a sammich... Or Confit of beef with poached egg.

Thing about CPAC is that with one exception, I don't know that those ninnies ever said anything (or did anything) I care about. I'm quite content to believe that events and principles have devastated the DC conservative apparatchiks, irrevocably.
So if anyone takes the two minutes required to watch this, let us know if it's as bad as they say.

"I noticed when I moved to southern California from Massachusetts 40 years ago"
And you're still unhappy? Good lord, man, go home already.

Here's a HuffPo headline:

For corruption I'd place them second in the region. Just behind the Orange County Sheriff's Dept.

I wish I could say "thanks for taking some of our rain" but we're as soaked as ever in Seattle. In fact, this month is on-target to be our rainiest February ever (and that comes on the heels of last October, the rainiest October ever: total 10.05", normal for October 3.48")
JD at February 19, 2017 1:29 PM
Say, when you're done with that doggie chasing the bacon can you send him our way for our next storm?
It doesn't matter if it is snow or tropical everything seems to grind to a halt. Commuter trains run late or don't run, far too many cars end up in the ditch alongside the road, and the power goes out for hours, or sometimes, for days and weeks on end.
You'd have thought that we have never experienced "weather" before!

So I know that this is the time of year when southern and central CA gets the bulk of its rain. You would think that the powers that be would know how to deal with it by now. But yeah, I've notice that what happens to drivers when it rains in L.A. is similar to what happens when it snows in the South. Does everyone in L.A. run out to buy milk and bread and toilet paper when rain is predicted?

Kind of breezy and damp here today. The neighbors' greenhouse just flew into the yard.
I'd help retrieve it but they're having fun doing it themselves. Wouldn't want to ruin it for them.
