Democrats and Republicans still don't get why Trump won.
Whether the charges on either side are true doesn't matter at this point. Trump won the election because he fights back.
The Republican base is energized by a Republican president who doesn't spend his time apologizing for Democratic innuendo, but fights back, sometimes with the same [admittedly childish and juvenile] tactics that the Dems are using against him.
The Democrats are foregoing gathering actual evidence against Trump in favor of their usually-effective snarky innuendo and mud slinging, not realizing that those tactics won't work on this Republican president (at least not with anyone beyond the Democratic base).
Trump has mastered going around the Democrat-aligned major media and using a direct outreach to the public. FDR had fireside chats, DJT has Twitter.
Republicans avoided fighting Democrat mud slinging in the past, citing the old adage, "Never wrestle with a pig, you both get dirty and the pig likes it." What the Democrats have failed to realize is that the pig is on the other side of the aisle now.

The man Obama placed at the head of the line of succession is D.C.'s U.S. Attorney Channing Phillips, who is quite cozy with President Obama and his attorney general, Eric Holder. He is a former senior adviser to Holder, and he stayed on to work under Obama's next AG Loretta Lynch before Obama appointed Phillips D.C.'s U.S. attorney in 2015. But Phillips goes way back with Holder—Holder first hired Philips in the D.C. U.S. Attorney's Office in 1994. It's also safe to say that the AG offices in the Northern District of Illinois and the Central District of California are not hotbeds of Trump supporters.
Evidence surfaces that there's even more American politicians colluding with the Russians:
