The New Fear Of Words
P.T. Carlo writes about the upside-downass world we live in:
The citizens of the U.K. are scared, in fact, they are terrified. They are afraid of Islamist Terror, but what really seems to keep them up at night is the idea that someday, someone might call them a racist. This is their ultimate nightmare. It's this nightmare that led them to elect Sadiq Khan, a Muslim politician who once regularly rubbed shoulders with fundamentalist Islamic clerics and famously stated that Islamic terror was just part and parcel of life in the big city.
Which big cities he was talking about remains unclear, though it can perhaps be concluded he must have been referring to third world locales like Istanbul and Karachi since many successful first world cities like Tokyo and Singapore have no terror attacks at all. Yet it is this man which the supposedly "uncowed" Londoners chose to elect as their mayor.
Peter Baggins, Ph.D., writes in The Occidental Observer about the Bruce Bawer book, While (Western) Europe Slept: How Radical Islam is Destroying the West from Within:
Bawer argued then that Europe's democratic traditions and open society face a growing demographic and cultural threat from Europe's Muslim immigrant communities who reject Enlightenment values and resist integration. He blamed this trend primarily on the "self-destructive passivity" among Europeans, whom he regards as "appeasing" essentially incompatible philosophies like radical Islam in the name of religious tolerance. Unlike the former American ideal of "melting pot" integration of immigrants within the wider society, Europe generally fails to integrate Muslim immigrants and instead tends to marginalize and isolate immigrant communities in the name of multiculturalism.
According to Bawer, Western European governments subscribe to the worst kind of political correctness. From Sweden to France, governments shower immigrants with benefits, install them in ghettos, while turning a blind eye to Muslim attacks on women, Jews and gays.
Writing in 2006, Bawer hinted at a coming cataclysm. "Immigrants to Europe bring with them many tribal customs that are flagrantly inconsistent with a Western understanding of human rights," he writes. "These customs represent flashpoints of latent or potential conflict between the Muslim immigrant communities and their host societies." And in a multicultural society, we are expected to simply tolerate them even though they conflict with the most basic values of historical Western societies.

Here's a nice piece of fiction set in the near-present illustrating how such a war begins. It's really quite good.

It's a tough problem for sure. To echo Crid's question: what to do? The Euros are civilized now for the most part. With the use of PC as a pejorative you seem to be suggesting non-PC solutions. I agree that machine-gunning the boats in the Med would be a signal that they're not going to take it any more.
I think they're stuck with multi-culturalism and may end up in their own enclaves. Of course Islam is no solution. They don't get along with each other at all.

I recall reading an article a few years ago about African Muslims in the UK. A flummoxed local school official was listening while an hysterical Muslim woman was screeching that she wanted her kid to eat more sweet potatoes. At school. Not at home, where she would be responsible, but rather that the government should be feeding her child "traditional" African foods. In the UK. WTF?
The sitting politicians courted the media and thought that would keep them in power, and now they're reaping the backlash of their true constituents.
Crack a beer, put your feet up, it's a great show!
