The Narcissistic 3-Year-Old Brat In The White House Is Irate That Amanda Knox Didn't Vote For Him
It is an exceptionally disgusting person -- a narcissistic adult brat -- who expects quid pro quo from a citizen, as our President, Donald Trump, apparently does.
Trump supported Amanda Knox when she was accused of murder in Italy. He finds her disloyal for not supporting him for President.
Amanda Knox writes in the LA Times:
Donald Trump supported me during the worst crisis and most vulnerable moment in my life, defending my innocence when I was on trial in Italy for murder. He is now the president of the United States and reportedly "very upset" with me because I didn't vote for him.Do I owe him my loyalty?
Trump's remarks were reported by the New York Times in a profile of his neighbor George Guido Lombardi. Yet I received negative backlash from his supporters even before Lombardi's comments were published. They felt that I owed Trump my allegiance and were outraged at columns I wrote in which I criticized his policies and explained my reasons for endorsing Hillary Clinton. One person commented:
"I'm sorry I ever supported you. You have turned into a left wing lunatic. I see your experience in Italy has left you completely ungrateful to be an American. ... Donald Trump stood by you, but now you turn around and indirectly attack him? You should be ashamed of yourself."
Another wrote that, while I needn't endorse Trump, my criticism of him wasn't "nice."
The message was clear: Trump defended me in the past; how dare I not defend him now? Never mind that Trump doesn't share my values. If I won't endorse him, at the very least I should keep my "left-wing lunacies" to myself.
This conviction is both undemocratic and dangerous. Just as a person's support of me should not be based upon my politics or identity, hinging instead on the fact of my innocence, so should my politics hinge on the merits of policy, not personal loyalty.
...What do I owe Trump? A thank you for his well-intentioned, if undiplomatic, support. So for the record: Thank you, Mr. President.
But the more important question is, what do I owe my country? Civic engagement, careful consideration of issues that affect my fellow citizens, and support for policies that deserve support, even if it makes the president "very upset."
Here's more that Trump's supporters will find ways to dismiss -- on what a truly terrible person he is.

This is on point.

A corresponding thought to Amy's, this summoned by a Lenona comment in another thread— Ivanka's book is being savaged today; Chelsea's immortal soul was being savaged in almost identical by Vanity Fair last week, and she'd certain be working as Secretary of the Interior or something if Mom had been elected.
All of these people have done their best to normalize twaddle and larceny... And all of them enjoy the support of adoring idiots who identify with in them in personal but indisputably inane ways.
We think of last year's election as pivotal.
I'm starting to think it was merely the fulcrum, and now it's time for things to tip.

I missed that she voted for Hillary. You know - the candidate that took money from governments that execute gays and treat women as things to be owned.
What do you expect from someone you have done something for?
Radwaste at May 5, 2017 2:39 AM
OMG a narcissist is in the WH? What a contrast to the modest and self-effacing example set by Barack Obama for the past 8 years!!
dee nile at May 5, 2017 4:45 AM
You and Knox are right: it's the narcissistic and disgusting behavior we've sadly come to expect.
OTOH, consider that he apparently just told that to a neighbor -- he didn't tweet it out to the world on one of his 5 a.m. thumbbursts. Progress!
Perfesser Getz at May 5, 2017 4:51 AM
Hard to find any evidence of the fact that Trump is upset with her?
She herself says: "He is now the president of the United States and reportedly 'very upset' with me because I didn't vote for him."
So, she herself is relying on some report, not direct communication by Trump.
But everything I read just points back to her own article. Nowhere is it actually reported that Trump said or did something to indicate he was very upset.
Seems like fake news to me.

You're about eight years too late Crid. Obama quite skillfully converted whole wings of the federal government into wings of the Democrat party. Corruption, venality, and chaos have been the order of business for quite a while.
As for the 'sudden' revelation that Trump is a narcissist, have you been paying attention to anything Amy? He was quite open about this during the campaign. This example doesn't even meet the bar he sets on a regular basis. Where are the tweets?
This mainly shows that Amanda Knox needs some publicity to sell her new book.

1. Our other choice was a person that is a proven habitual liar that sold her soul decades ago to get elected and continued to sell whatever was necessary to further her political ambition (not political ideals).
2. DNC party loyalists are perfectly fine with corrupt political machines (DNC and the Clinton Foundation) doing whatever is necessary to further their business and political goals despite clear proof of their selling out.
3. The personal "feelings" of any elected party on non-"business" issue is of no importance to the main problems of the day. Discussion is either gossip or simply "no news today". Who cares.
All of the above are self-inflicted troubles by the DNC and by Clinton. It's why we have Trump and also why we are better off. At least Obama is giving 'em their $400,000 worth.

A couple of thoughts: (1) How the hell does Amanda Knox get column-inches in the L.A. Times? Whether you think she's guilty or not, what has she accomplished to merit a national platform? (2) What Trump says is immaterial. Watch what he does. (3) As far as corruption, venality and chaos, we're there, and have been for about a quarter of a century now.

I'm glad we've moved on from that.

Never heard of this kerfuffle. Sounds more like Amanda is looking for attention. Is there any evidence (I can't find any) that he even said or tweeted anything about this? Seems like Fake News again.
Ferdburful at May 5, 2017 8:18 AM
Reminds me of a discussion I had over polls saying most Trump supporters still supported him at the 100 day mark. The liberals I was talking to were up in arms about the poll, saying it must be badly done research (for laughable reasons), or was fake news.
Why? because they had been inundated with story after story of people who regretted their choice of voting for him. Something they don't remember ever hearing about any other candidate.
I tried pointing out that in every decision there were a few who regretted it. That the only unusual thing was media hyping it over and over. The same was done to the Brexit vote.
"news" will give ink to anyone who is "disloyal" or changed their mind about any candidate or choice the media doesn't like. I've already seen a hit piece on a congressman regretting his vote yesterday.
This article seems the same to me.

Trump wasn't my first choice. I would have rather had Cruz win the primary.
It came down to this: Trump had a chance of winning the Presidency for the GOP. The libertarian candidate, unfortunately, did not have a snowball's chance in Hell of even getting the 5% election return he would have needed for the Libertarians to gain major party status -- if there was that chance, I would have voted for Johnson. Trump's viable opponent, on the other hand, was pure evil who should be nowhere near the tiniest, lowest public office. I ultimately didn't make up my mind until I was actually in that voting booth, and then I did what I though I must.
Some of the things that Trump has done I like, and some of them I do not. I especially do not like when he lies about things, since he does not have to. I give him a C overall, due in part to his acceptance of that horrible, horrible omnibus bill.
As somebody who was bullied in middle and high school, I'm not going to dispute what Amy says about Trump, except that he seems more cognizant than your average 3-year-old. However, that did not factor into my final decision.
mpetrie98 at May 5, 2017 11:34 AM
Trump certainly keeps all eyes on himself, that's for sure!
I guess it's just too bad Hillary only spent a gazillion dollars on her campaign.
Maybe if she'd spent TWO gazillion dollars AND personally machine-gunned some deplorable working-class white men on live TV she would have swept the Electoral College vote.
I guess we'll never know.
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at May 5, 2017 11:45 AM
Amanda Knox's insistence that the President of the United States is hung up on her vote is a little less intriguing to me than CNN's report on the latest
Clinton Plot
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at May 5, 2017 1:56 PM
Beg pardon. CBS' report, not CNN's. All the Trumphate/Hillaryfealty blends together after awhile.
Gog_Magog_Carpet_Reclaimers at May 5, 2017 1:57 PM
So, Amanda Knox, hears third- or possibly fourh-hand (from an article in the New York Times about Trump's neighbor, George Lombardi) that Trump is upset with her, "received negative backlash from his supporters even before Lombardi’s comments were published" about her support for Hillary, and is so upset that she writes an op-ed about it in the Los Angeles Times?
Trump on the other hand, appears to have said nothing on the subject (unusual for him), except possibly to his neighbor in private, the man he asked to look into Knox's case while on a trip to Italy.
Either she needed the attention or the anti-Trump crowd needed a new controversy.
There are plenty of things Trump has said publicly for which he can be rightly criticized. And smarter people than Knox to whom to turn for that criticism.
Conan the Grammarian at May 5, 2017 2:41 PM
Can't it be both Conan. After all we've cycled back into 'Trump will cause WW3! FEAR!!!!' stage of the news business. At least the third time we've been here and Hillary still isn't president. Should only have 15 more versions of this story to go. At the same time being oppressed by Trump certainly sells in some areas. It's just good marketing on Knox's part.

My desk is in a corner. But the walls are yellow and the ceiling is a shiny white. The window catches the morning sun quite nicely. So I don't know about 'darkly'. I do eyerollingly note that turning point was reached quite some time ago. The sharp rise in civil asset forfeiture cases didn't show up on your radar? The election where one choice was one of the most blatantly mercenary politicians I've seen?
Ben at May 6, 2017 6:42 AM
It's a measure of the Trump Chumps' collective delusion that they should see any criticism of their savior as "left wing". You can't get much more clueless than that.

Billy Wizz at May 6, 2017 8:25 AM
So someone heard from someone, who heard from someone, who heard from someone else that after Trump stood by someone, he was upset she didn't vote for him and privately vocalized disappointment she was subscribing to left wing lunacy.
I privately badmouth people's politics, which really isn't anyone's business, nor is it when Trump does so. "Nice people who sometimes say F***" do it all the time, and it doesn't equate to a scandal just because a jerk like Trump does it.
Conversely, Hillary has partaken in the destruction of women assaulted by her husband, yet somehow qualifies as an adult.
Trump is a jerk, and I wish the Republicans would have nominated a better person. But from a policy perspective, he's been terrific. SCOTUS is one example. None of his supposed scandals would be enough for me to turn over the reigns to Clinton over. Contrary to media misinformation, we still haven't recovered from her husband's time as president.
