Another scalp taken.
Edelstein made the grave mistake, however, of writing a review that was more concerned with the film's mythical Amazon warrior than the all too real social justice warriors who make writing anything fun or provocative on the internet a de facto crime. Edelstein initially responded to the criticisms, somewhat understandably, with a defensive Facebook post that noted he did not think "describing the appearance of the leading actress would be off limits." Alas, the Council of Wrongthink was not appeased, and so today we have a grand apologia from Edelstein that is both unneeded and an exercise in Maoist compliance
Number 7 is pretty chilling - I might not have thought of it! After all, it's not too surprising when a product endorsed by a celeb doesn't do as well as the creator THOUGHT it would - but this is different. I don't think I heard of the Eiffel Tower scam, either. (That was in 1925.)
Btw, the article doesn't mention pigeon drop scams, but I read about that in a YA novel from 2002 - "See You Down the Road." I read about it again in "Tall Tales, Legends and Hoaxes" by Nat Segaloff, which I'm pretty sure is another title for an earlier book of his from 2001, since both books include the "laying the note" con from the 1973 Ryan O'Neal movie "Paper Moon."

@Lenona,
Many of those tricks can also be seen from patrons asking for a better price on goods. Also, when it comes scamming money from the cashiers. They address the employees by their first names and try to strike a friendly conversation, not flirty but in a way that resembles a close friendship.
If con artist succeeds, he/she can distract them to the point that they can convince the target that they gave the wrong amount of change.
Obviously, subscription paywall is a great tool to hide fraud behind it. It did apparently prevent Carlisle from accessing a number of publications using his hospital’s limited access to medical literature. This might provide one reason why medical publishing is so reluctant to move to open access.

Speaking of Enigma, check out the two graphic-novel biographies on Alan Turing:
"The Case of Alan Turing: The Extraordinary and Tragic Story of the Legendary Codebreaker" (originally in French, from 2015)
"The Imitation Game: Alan Turing Decoded" (2016).
I'm somewhat partial to the first, since I read it first. Besides, the artwork just appeals more to the adult eye, IMO.

Maybe it's blocked in the USA to ensure that Musicians like Drake won't be able to discover it and thus start sampling it on their Original songs.

Some good news for a change:
A neonatal kitten nursery is opening in Arlington next month, the region's first standalone facility dedicated to saving extremely young cats.
Each month during the summer, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington receives somewhere between 20 and 30 teeny, tiny kittens, orphaned at an age when they haven't yet learned to care for themselves. The AWLA tries to save them all, calling on volunteers and staff who are trained in the round-the-clock feeding that each kitten needs.
Somebody makes a new one of these every three weeks or so, but this is a good one. Combine it with this for a rich amazement toolkit.

But you'll also need one of these, or maybe this.

So after looking at those comments we did a few weeks about audio gear, this image of a 3bx turned up on Google just now.
And after the better part of forty years, I still want one.
My hearing's shot; I'd never detect the difference, ever.
Also, I still own a perfectly operational 2bx.
But back in the day I wanted a 3. So, still. Now.
Tough planet.
There some woman like that, t
Okay nevermind.
