Maybe, or maybe not. Does anyone think Trump truly cares at this point? Does anyone imagine he understands what this means to people? Could anyone believe he feels any debt or loyalty to his voters, and the promises he made to them?

I'd glanced at this SSC essay before, but had forgotten how it illuminates different facets of the SJW mentality:
…I think it’s fair to say you only earn the right to call yourself ‘forgiving’ if you forgive things that genuinely hurt you.
To borrow Chesterton’s example, if you think divorce is a-ok, then you don’t get to “forgive” people their divorces, you merely ignore them. Someone who thinks divorce is abhorrent can “forgive” divorce. You can forgive theft, or murder, or tax evasion, or something you find abhorrent.
br>Also, this is still a great photograph of two distinctly American beauties.
This would be a great time for one of Raddy's comments about how Trump has a lot of money and a great haircut and is omnicompetent and is therefore the best one to serve the American voters.

I'd read Father Brown years ago and enjoyed him. It's only recently, after re-reading some of the stories, that I've realized how philosophical Chesterton made him.
I caught an episode of the PBS rebroadcast of the mostly white bread and vanilla British television show based on the character and that rekindled my interest. The show does a disservice to the depth of Chesterton's writing. Still, it tries to be faithful to GKC's ideals, at least within the context of a television show that's mostly Murder She Wrote with an accent.
I also liked the reference to Freud's narcissism of small differences. Ol' Sigmund seems much-maligned these days, but he knew a thing or two about human nature.

What the goram hell is this?
Parents of high school teenagers were outraged this weekend after dozens of their children were ordered to undergo forced blood and alcohol tests because officials found a beer can under the stadium during a football game. As parents tried to refuse the tests, they were told their children would be suspended for noncompliance.
And they could have raised more money by passing the hat amongst themselves...

In the 32 years I have lived in this great country, I have never once actively fought racism. I have simply used my own example as evidence of its utter stupidity and moved forward with absolute metaphysical confidence, knowing that the ability of other people to name or label me has no power over my self-esteem, my mind, my judgment, and—above all—my capacity to liberate myself through my own efforts.
Just quit adding your own spin to things others say.
Well, this could be a very long list.
This rhetoric always has the tone of an isolated child... As if you're just certain that if you could bust through this fog of disrespect and disinterest which silly grownups have set wafting around you, and you could rilly get others to listen to what you say, then the sheer, hammering logic of your perspective would end all the arguments.
And until then, all you can do is dream of taking control.
But it's never going work out, okay? And the problem is not merely that others disagree with you. The problem is that you're wrong... Others need not hesitate to explain how.
Welcome to adulthood. Even now, keep your hands to yourself, and quit screeching in the back seat.
