Social media allows people the unprecedented ability to announce to the whole world what an asshole they are.

Wrong post. I meant to post on the one above about people wishing death on the NRA. My bad.

That's an important distinction: The "unprecedented" part is the loud announcement, not the "asshole" part.

The abandoned clothing, shoes, and other personal belongings testify to the suddenness of the attack and the panic it caused. People went to a concert and some died, not from a collapsed stage or faulty wiring, but from the deliberate actions of one man.

Unprecedented, indeed. With a hashtag, any barely-literate idiot with a cell phone and a free Twitter account can potentially reach millions of people all over the world, all in one hour.
A professional pamphleteer in the 1800s was lucky to reach a million people over the course of a lifetime. Think about that. Thomas Paine is generously estimated to have sold 120,000 copies of his 1776 pamphlet, Common Sense, a work that influenced both the American Revolution and the French Revolution, not to mention thousands of aspiring revolutionaries world-wide.

True. And any barely-literate idiot with a cellphone and a free Twitter account can read it.
(Not referring to you, Conan! Just a general observation about the dumbth of our society overall.)
Pictures of kitty kats. But I wouldn't advise petting them.
