As an ideological matter, every time a Democrat claims that keeping more of your own money is tantamount to stealing – which is all the time – voters should remember this is fundamentally a debate between people who believe the state should have first dibs on your property and those who don’t.
Always laugh when I see a so-called 'conservative' raging against conservation.

@Gog: Actually, the drilling in ANWAR will only involve a small portion of that mostly-barren area, and side-drilling will probably be included, meaning that you won't need as large a footprint on the surface.
Environmentalism has gone far beyond conservation and become a green statist jihad trying to determine how most of us live our lives. Obama's clean power plan, for just one example, is less an exercise in conservation than it is a total statist takeover of the power industry. Hopefully, Trump will get rid of it once and for all.

Said wall may be a good thing for the US to build. Certainly our current rate of immigration exceeds our ability to properly assimilate the immigrants. And the low skill level of too many of our immigrants leaves them behind in our advanced technological society. Language and cultural barriers (see assimilation) leave them isolated.
But we need to be wary of "Build the Wall" types who want to isolate the US from the world, cutting off any and all foreign aid, imports, and involvement in world affairs.
Isolating oneself from the world never works in the long run. We have the history of Japan and China as guides.
The Meiji emperors and Kuomintang were left picking up the pieces of advanced civilizations destroyed by their respective ancestors who decided the world did not deserve the august presence of their peoples in it.
The destruction wrought over several generations of isolation left their respective societies economically disadvantaged, poorly educated, and vulnerable to exploitation.

So far as I can tell, this is pretty precisely correct.
