Title IX Goose, Meet The Title IX Gander!
Welcome to Unintended Consequences 101: Come up with some plan to privilege the "right" people, and the "wrong" people might just end up taking advantage of it.
@Toni_Airaksinen -- by the way, the first generation of her family to go to and graduate from college (and from Barnard, at that!) -- writes at Campus Reform about a Title IX investigation into Yale University.
It comes "amid allegations that the institution offers educational programs and scholarship opportunities that exclude men."
The investigation was launched after Kursat Christoff Pekgoz, a lecturer at the University of Southern California, alleged in a February 18 complaint that the Yale initiatives provide unfair advantages to women."Yale University violates Title IX by funding/sustaining programs which practice discrimination in their admission/election practices," Pekgoz wrote in a complaint to the OCR, a copy of which was obtained by Campus Reform.
His complaint also pointed out that male students are increasingly a minority on college campuses, and that, from an ethical perspective, they deserve equal access to academic opportunities.
"Men are a minority at Yale University (48%) and nationwide enrollment rates for men are even lower (42.8%)," his letter asserted, adding that "men are even less likely to graduate from college after initial enrollment."
"Therefore, affirmative action for women in colleges is irrational: indeed, it would only stand to reason to implement affirmative action for male students," he argued, though he noted that he only hopes these opportunities will become gender-neutral instead.
Tee-hee.
The reality is, if we're doling out help fairly, I think it should go to students who come from families without a lot of money -- no matter what sex they are.
These are the students who, for example, can't afford to take a number of internships because they need to work during the summer.
Of course, those eeeevil libertarians over at Reason have long paid a very nice stipend to all of their interns, making those positions available to anybody with the talent, enthusiasm, and interest.

My son was an elite musician in high school that tried out for a number of prestigious summer music camps.
He has kind of a unisex first name. When they thought he was a girl, he got in, but was rejected from one of the best camps in the country for being male. Their excuse was no housing but it was lame excuse and late in coming. Male, white, from a red state, three strikes, and you are out.

Reason paid their interns even back when the screechers at The Nation were making their work for free.

I am reminded of a fad - feminism is so delightfully faddish; one might even suggest women's pursuit of fashion fads is just channeled a different direction - I think we're about 15 years out from when "women have more empathy" was considered a weapon of the sisterhood, before they decided it might mean that they should act a certain way.
The obvious conclusion is that feminism is, as "Big Red" said to Cassie Jaye, a political pressure movement for women's special privileges. Anyone who continues to cling to the "equality" idea is gullible or actively in on the lie. (I found it funny that in that same interview, "Big Red" said men should go start their own group; she led the protest that shut down a men's group doing what she advised wherein somebody - probably her - pulled the fire alarm after threatening violence...it must be nice to never have to be consistent.)
Prove every obvious negative conclusion about feminism wrong. They wanted numerical parity in college. Time to get the male percentage back to 50%, "by any means necessary", or prove that, as the American Association of University Women has previously put out in their public discussions on the gender ratio in college, the goal of university feminists is to remove male students from campus to make a it a women's (lesbians') space.

In my EdM program, guys were definitely more likely to be accepted.
I don't think that is a problem.

He has kind of a unisex first name. When they thought he was a girl, he got in, but was rejected from one of the best camps in the country for being male.
Next time he should tell them that "he is currently identifying as male" and that he would prefer the pronouns "he" and "him", but will understand if they slip up and call him "she" or "her" sometimes. Then they will think that whatever s/he is, it's not a cis-male, and he/she will get right in.
