Here is my plan for ending massive illegal immigration:

1) Massive fines for people hiring illegal immigrants. You could have a grace period for people who have already hired some to get the paperwork in order.
2) No one can walk into a country. You are a refugee, you go to a refugee camp. Countries then send safe boats to refugee camps to pick up as many migrants as they want. None of this people swimming/walking through winter/crossing in unsafe boats. Migrants in camps are vetted as thoroughly as possible. Migrants arrive in waves, not all at once, with the ones waiting learning the laws and language of wherever they are going.

So, Germany decides it wants a million refugees one year. Germany goes to the camp and picks out a million refugees and provides safe transport and accommodations for them. They are picking, so can pick according to their needs, and equal numbers of women and men, and can favor families with children, or old people, or marginalized groups like gays or Yahzidi or whatever.

3) People in a country illegally are offered the choice of the refugee camp or a return ticket home. Actual refugees who can't go home will go to the camp, and await processing.

Just an announcement alone that a government agency (one with guns and the power to arrest) intends to begin compiling and mining data on US citizens should be cause for concern.

What happens when a citizen openly hostile to a DHS agency, say the TSA, crosses the jurisdiction of that agency?

For what purpose does DHS intend to compile this data?

And at what cost - in money and in civil liberties?

Ira, I have some cousins, whose mom was a less than stellar human and she ain't winning any mother of the year awards. We had a big laugh at that obit...my cousins and their half sister can not wait to write their "womb donor's" obit. Even if the WD did write her own before she died, I'm pretty sure those 3 would make sure it never saw the light of day. She's a truly awful person.

Which leads to a different but bigger problem. Since we were loaning ourselves money for decades at basically no interest, the idea that we can no longer do that and have to pay it back NOW is a big problem. We now have to find suckers, er I mean investors, who will loan us money at much higher interest rates and with a lot more strings attached.
The interest on loans was a small part of the budget before, but it will rapidly grow.

Actually the claim that they were cash flow positive for the last few years is also a lie. They made up the difference on interest they paid themselves.

Sorry for the confusion, Conan, I was responding to the post about deporting illegal immigrants, not security compilations.

That is indeed troubling.

Don't forget, that as of FY16 (on a quick search I don't see anything more recent), the unholy trinity of welfare, subsidies of various sorts, and interest on the debt accounted for 70% of the federal budget. The entire rest of the federal government -- the military, law enforcement, the legislature, the judicial branch, the State Department, the Commerce Department, the EPA, the FAA, OSHA, NASA, the CIA, the NSA, the IRS, the FDA, Homeland Security, the TSA, the National Science Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Education Department, the Labor Department, the VA, the BATF, the whole shooting match -- is crammed into the other 30%. And that 30% is shrinking.
