Salt Is A Vegetable
That is how I feel about salt -- and it helps that I know that the sounding of the alarm on salt was wrong: not based in good science.
Well, I saw there's a book on salt and it's on Kindle special today: Only $1.99. Just bought it myself. (The paperback of the book sells for $18.62, so this is a serious discount.)
In case you want a copy, it's "The Salt Fix: Why the Experts Got It All Wrong--and How Eating More Might Save Your Life," by James DiNicolantonio, who is described in the jacket copy as "a leading cardiovascular research scientist and doctor of pharmacy" who "overturns conventional thinking about salt and explores instead the little-understood importance of it, the health dangers of having too little, and how salt can actually help you improve sports performance, crush sugar cravings, and stave off common chronic illnesses."
P.S. As long as you're at Amazon, improve your productivity and your life by picking up a copy of my very affordable "science-help" book, "Unf*ckology: A Field Guide to Living with Guts and Confidence."
If you've already bought a copy, and if you liked the book, please consider posting even a wee review. They really help the author!

My friend was dragging himself through the day at age 40, could barely function. I had been reading about blood pressure stuff and asked him about his. He had very very low BP due to he and wife being health nuts and not using any salt. I said try it--he started adding salt and was like a new man.
Just because salt is dangerous for someone with high blood pressure does not mean either that it CAUSES high BP or that it is bad for everyone else.
