It seems to be rampant in the info/entertainment world. Stephen King, he of the run-on paragraph, thought revolvers had external safeties and MS-13 was the gun used in a recent school shooting.

But Hollywood keeps it safe, really, because every time a gun is displayed on a TV or movie screen there's an accompanying cocking sound.

Those magazines would be emptied before the fight even began. Now that's gun control.
