What Does A Father Mean To A Child?
Sunday is a day of tributes to dads, and that's one way to see what dads mean to their children.
But perhaps a better way to really understand this is to get a picture of life for a kid who was taken from his dad -- who was robbed of years of his childhood with his father.
This below is a screenshot of the first tweet in a moving (disturbing) tweet thread by Dell Cameron. Read the whole thread here.

That guy if so upset needs to direct his complaints to
A) the courts which gave ruled minors brought in by their parents can be charged with a crime of held in law enforcement custody with their parents
B) the parents who insist on staying to fight deportation charges and surrender their kids

What Trump is doing is disgusting and has far more to do with extorting Congress to pay for his wall than with deterrence.
The proof of that is Trump's crocodile tears that Congress needs to pass a law to stop what he claims is mandatory.
First, if that's how he honestly feels, he could propose the law tonight and it would be passed tomorrow. Instead what he has demanded is a specific law with financial support for the wall and many other demands.
Second, and it's clear from the record, that this policy is not mandatory and not old, but due to an April 6th memorandum from Jeff Sessions demanding zero tolerance.

Well if he wanted zero tolerance, fine, but that does not let Sessions or Trump away from their duties as leaders to craft humane and legal ways to arrest and keep the families intact.
This is the first time I really sympathize with the never Trumpers and the oh but the emails that were saying better Clinton than Trump.
Let this be Trump's Waterloo.

And what of the child of the parent who commits robbery? Or car jacking? Or murder?
Should we ensure those children stay with their parents?
The way the US legally treats illegal entry is legal equivalent of hitting someone in the face with a pillow compared to the laws of many of the countries most of these people are coming from.
Sad thing is many of the people who come here have made it clear they have no intention of integrating.
They want all the benefits of a country with law and order, but none of the responsibilities that entails.
Let us not forget it was a liberal court that ruled minor children couldn't be held for more than 20 days.
Let us not forget that the countries these children were born in could demand they be turned over to their government at any time but choose not to
Let us not forget that these parents could waiver their right to a deportation hearing and be reunited with their children and put on a bus back to Mexico today - BUT CHOOSE NOT TO
Sure Trump is a jack ass using children as pawns, but he has only been at the table for a few months, all the pother players have been there for years - why shit on the guy who plays by the rules others set and not on those who set up this twisted game years ago?

Let this be Trump's Waterloo.
You're aware this was Obama's policy, too? And Hillary was down with it?
Strange, not a single fucking peep from the media and the Usual Suspects when the Lightbringer was in charge.
But hey, I'm all in favor of keeping those families together: deport the lot of 'em.

Where exactly do you find that this is the case?

1. The expanded zero tolerance is all owned by Jeff Sessions and Trump. And if Obama and Hillary did that, they are fucked up assholes too.
2. I guess you're Mr. Two Wrongs Make a Right

3. What I hear is you saying you're buying the beers, meantime, I'll find my car keys and then you and I can meet and you can listen to me talk all day and all night about what Obama fucked up. K?

So this other guy was a total asshole and doing this evil shit, and we are so much better than that dude, and well we are doing the same evil shit and worse, even though now we know so much better, and fuck it we are so much better and my god, he started it, and you can't see that. Now hold my beer as I own the libs.

How did Trump get into this discussion? Cameron was taken from his father in a custody dispute.
This case sucked, but family court decisions often do. For every kid who suffers Cameron's fate, there's another whose genuinely abusive father (or mother, or both) gets to keep him because the judge wasn't persuaded to remove him. Judges aren't mind readers, and when there is little or no hard evidence the decision is likely to go to whoever has the best lawyer or does the best acting job in court.

Contrast this fake outrage with the genuine concern and anguish of the South Vietnamese parents who were trying desperately to hand their children to any American they knew that might put them on a plane out of Saigon in 1975 even if the parents never saw them again.
Im sure the Jews trapped in the Nazi blitzkrieg did anything and everything to save their kids as well.

Keep in mind that what is happening with Immigration is that they are seeing an increase in refugees seeking asylum from MS-13. Historically, a lot of refugees have either exaggerated or lied about the danger they face in their home countries. They have to wait more than a year for a hearing. If their claim is not found to be valid, they get sent back, having wasted resources that were intended for those with legitimate claims. I believe that immigration officials were hoping to cut back on this waste by using children as leverage. The parents have to admit to asylum perjury in order to be reunited and sent back to their country. But the immigrants are calling their bluff, knowing that they won't be forced to go back for more than a year. Now, Immigration is stuck with these kids.

So hypothetically, an illegal immigrant man, is nabbed north of the border with three girls who look about 8, 12, and maybe 14 years old. He says he is their “dad”.
The girls are scared and crying
What ya gonna do?
1. Wave them on thru with a promise to show up six months in the future for a court date to determine their status
2. Arrest the man, and put the girls in a supervised facility for minor females. Do an DNA test on all four of them and wait for the results, which takes about two weeks.
3. Trust him. Treat them as a family unit and give them a room together in a facility where they can have some privacy.
I choose number 2. What say you?
