For People Who Spend Time Outside
I just posted a photo with this caption on my new Instagram page, amyalkonbookstagram:
Showing off my tan last year before doing a reading at Sandra Tsing Loh's Bad Girls Of Literary L.A.
Though I don't spend much time outside, you may, and if so, you may be interested in one of the Daily Deals from Amazon -- 30 percent or more on stuff for outdoors: Champion Sports Rubber Horseshoe Set, a Wilson NFL Supergrip Football, a Skip Ball set (whatever that is), a men's UV-protection shirt (gotta wear sunblock on the arms, which are not included in coverage!). And more.
If you, like me, stay indoors a lot or are just not sportif, you can use the handy-dandy Amazon search window installed by Gregg (to your left) to look for stuff you want to buy on Amazon.

What tan is that? If I saw you I'd throw holy water to be sure you're not a zombie. ;-b

Close the camera's aperture a bit and/or use a filter to increase skin tone and you'll come out less pale. Possibly a gold reflector.
Also standing in direct sunlight is not a good idea for portraiture. You need diffused lighting, not direct lighting.

I have relatives in China who would kill to get that skin complexion.

Sixclaws, I was thinking the same thing - Amy looks like a fine china porcelain doll. (And, Amy, that is meant as a compliment!)

Hah on the zombie.
Gregg is taking the photo. I am lucky when he takes a photo in which I do not look wounded or dead.
Thank you. I credit French sunblock and the fact that I write at the speed of a eunuch chiseling a message onto stone tablets.

Do you mean you're even whiter in the wintertime???
