The South African situation is a bit different than the one in the US.

The whites there were always a minority and held onto power through violence against the native majority. The country has very few ethnic groups beyond black and white. Education non-whites was restricted, as were housing, employment, etc.

Such restriction generated a cooling of the longstanding Zulu-Xhosa animosities against the common enemy - although those animosities will most likely reappear and generate some friction as each group jockeys to be the dominant influence in South Africa's non-white future. The IFP and the ANC were rivals for a long time, though political allies today (but for how long?).

The US, on the other hand, contains a polyglot mix of ethnicities, mostly transplants. With a few, mostly historical, exceptions, the US has not generally suppressed education, housing, and employment for non-whites. And those exceptions were eliminated with what were generally non-violent means - imposed by whites on whites.

When whites become the minority in the US, there will likely be no clear majority ethnicity. Each non-white ethnic group will have to jockey for supremacy in politics, economics, and culture, creating a murky and fluid system of ethnic alliances and rivalries.

So. The fate of the former Yugoslavia awaits us? armed conflict is simply jockeying by other means.

Or the definition of white will be expanded again. Used to be the Irish weren't white. Same with the Italians and many others. Asians are right on the edge of being labeled as white. To some extent white isn't a skin color, it is a culture of success.

This talk that the US no longer being a white-majority country will doom the country to violence and economic desolation is getting a bit Klan-ny, guys.

As I pointed out earlier in this thread, South Africa and Zimbabwe are not comparable societies and can hardly serve as harbingers for US demographic shifts.

Nor are black people, by default, going to kill whitey and steal his land the moment whitey drops to 49% of the population.

Don't lump me in like that Conan. I was just pointing out that 'white' is a pretty fake ethnicity. For that very reason calling the US a majority white nation is stupid. There are so many groups that are now labeled as white that decades ago would not have been. You can have very dark skin and still be 'white'. Look at all the Mediterraneans, the Jews, North Africans, et al. In one context they are white and in others they are not.

As I pointed out since 'white' doesn't have much of anything to do with actual genetics or even country of origin one very likely outcome is the definition of white will be expanded to include new ethnic groups. Hence never losing it's majority status. Quite frankly it looks like asians are about to be lumped into white. That's 4 billion new 'white' people on the planet. And after the Zimmerman stuff successful hispanics are being shoehorned into the designation as well.

When people from Brazil, Russia, and England are all lumped into the same category that category doesn't make much sense.
