What "purchase?" It's already been established that purchasing a song or movie on iTunes or Amazon is little more than a long-term rental. Your heirs cannot even inherit the digital property. In order to use any digital property, they have to keep your account open.

If they can be burned to CD, then they can be converted back into DRM-free files. And I see no reason why that "CD" has to be a physical item, a simple RAM disk CD-ROM emulation should do just fine.
