The thing about this is that it didn't even taken until the nominating vote before Feinstein et al lost interest and started whining about his 'extremism' again.

Flea-borne TYPHUS in LA County spreads to Long Beach amid fears feral cats and rats are spreading the disease among homeless as cases rise to 91
I want to spend some more time looking over this data, but it sure looks to me like the widely reported spike in "prescription opioid" deaths is in fact being drive by a huge increase in illegally manufactured and obtained fentanyl. From what I've read, undiluted fentanyl is a very dangerous drug, because of the extremely small dose it takes to have a significant physiological effect. It makes sense that if fentanyl use by addicts is increasing, it would result in a disproportionate increase in overdose deaths. Interestingly, fentanyl is listed on the World Health Organization's List of Essential Medicines.
" 'How to get a husband': Cringeworthy 1950s dating article advises women to 'cry softly in a corner' and 'stumble into a room' to attract eligible men"

Well, Lenona, it's easy to criticize. I'd be interested in your tips on how an older, non-beauty should try to attract a husband ...
As for the article, "cringeworthy" or common sense in most cases?

It wasn't my adjective; I was only quoting the title and the excerpt.
And I doubt ANY 1950s article would have even suggested that it's possible for a middle-aged woman to find love.
Not that it's easy, of course. Whether you're male or female, the older you get, the more likely it is that friends, relatives, and strangers alike will care less and less about any of your good qualities other than your money. Even if you're poor. (Look at all the scam artists who rob the poor.)
Miss Manners COULD have said that to the writer in this 2012 column, but didn't - probably because she didn't want the woman to give up hope.
Last paragraph (the LW was 64):
"Somewhere in my area, there must be one nice, normal man, who like myself is looking for an honest woman and a quality relationship. How does one kindly and swiftly get the message across right upfront that I don’t want to mend, fix, nurture, counsel, finance anyone? Is it appropriate to ask a man if he is unencumbered, debt-free, no criminal history, etc.? If so, how does one go about this?"
Jaw-dropping.... Can you imagine Captain Placidyl and Justice FWOTSC?
I admire her even more.

In other news from electronic media, this is a really good point.
