Discrimination Is Still Discrimination If You Only Let The Ladies In
I'm always disgusted by these scholarships, fellowships, and other awards that discriminate in the name of "inclusiveness."
The notion they put forward is that they're helping out some previously excluded group of people.
The thing is, none of us are groups of people; we are each individuals. So by giving something only to one type of people, you're discriminating.
I'm against that sort of thing, and so is Mark J. Perry, an economist who's going after anti-male discrimination by universities.
Josh Verges writes in the Pioneer Press:
The University of Minnesota has changed the eligibility criteria for two women-only scholarships and is reviewing other awards in response to a complaint of anti-male discrimination.Mark Perry, an economics and finance professor at the University of Michigan-Flint, has made it his "lifelong mission" to stamp out anti-male discrimination in education.
In the past three years, he has pushed Michigan State University to allow men into the women's lounge at its student union and worked to change who's eligible for women-only awards and programs at numerous colleges.
A University of Minnesota graduate, Perry complained to his alma mater in June about three awards he found online for "women-identified students."
The U informed him Wednesday that they've removed the gender-specific criteria from two scholarships. A third scholarship is under review, and the U will stop administering it if it's not opened up to other genders, Title IX Coordinator Tina Marisam wrote.
Of course, there's one type of diversity that's entirely unwelcome on campus these days, and it's viewpoint diversity -- allowing in and promoting professors who are not lockstep liberals.
Side note about something in the article:
The Doherty award historically has gone to a "woman-identified student who has demonstrated outstanding volunteer service concerning women's issues." It's now open to any U student who has done that work.
"Woman-identified."
I can see some hairy guy-guy having one-too-many beers and applying for this, and the administrators getting their panties in a bunch.

As a Jew do you really believe that? Jews act as a group and that's a big reason of why we are so successful. It's just human nature to form groups and collectivize. Ya maybe it would be better to all act like individuals but it's not realistic.
The real problem with these scholorships is that their purpose is not to include women and minorities but to exclude white men. This can only happen because white men don't collectivize to fight for their interests. So instead of telling everyone to be individuals we should tell white men to play identity politics.
Imagine how much more sucesfull Professor Perry would be if he had a man's organization backing up. Still I applaud Professor Perry for fighting the good fight.

Historically?
The award is 30 years old this year sometime. I highly doubt the term, "Woman-identified" was in use.

Not going to bother them in the least. They will simply continue to make the award to the People of the Correct Gender, even if gender is fluid and simply a social construct.
Oddly, sexual attraction are set in stone and unmuttable. Now, someone bake me a cake.

Did you see the article about the man who is suing to have his age lowered by 20 years because he self identifies as younger person and age is just social construct:

Personally I am all for these absurd lawsuits. Each one highlights the absurdity of today's post-modern "truths".

For now, that's so. It's changing and...
So instead of telling everyone to be individuals we should tell white men to play identity politics.
You won't like that, I think. Not in the least. Neither will the Usual Suspects.
The reason those harpies can get in our faces and scream at us and splatter us with kale-flaked spittle is because they don't actually believe the rude things they're calling us, and we're more likely to laugh at them and walk away.
Notice they don't do that with Muslim men. They're much more polite.

These folks are what Bill Mauldin called, garritroopers, "too far forward to wear ties an' too far back to git shot."
These are the people who need to believe that they are brave, but know that they are not. They're quick to call others "cowards" and tell everyone what they would do if they found themselves in a given situation, but their heroics happen mostly in their own minds.
As such, confronting someone who might shoot back is out of the question. Their bravery will be put on display where it won't get them shot; it will be spoken of endlessly and always in the hypothetical.

While we're on the subject of Jews, discrimination, identity politics, and hate, tonight is the 80th anniversary of Krystallnacht.

There was an audit of the Pennsylvania state college system that revealed that something like 75% of budgets attributable to student life and welfare services were going to female students.
Some of that is due to the fact that women made up the majority of students, a bit over 50%. But the major cause was sex specific facilities and programs like women's dorms, women's centers, women's events, women's clinics etc..
But you'll still hear that women are discriminated against in higher education.

I went down to the Porsche/Audi dealership and identified as some rich guy, but the discriminating bastards wanted to see actual money.

No, the administrators will not get their panties in a bunch on the contrary, they'll be excited to prove their progressive credentials and give the spots to guys. See girls' track in Connecticut.

See girls' track in Connecticut.
Ah, but those are transgirls. Remember: not every woman has a vajayjay.
In truth, I'm surprised some lower end NCAA women's basketball team hasn't recruited a full complement of transwomen, and then gone on to steamroll everyone else in both regular season, conference tourney, and the NCAA tourney.
I would find that popcorn worthy.

Give it time IRA. We already have men winning in women's individual sports. We just haven't gotten organized enough to put a full team together.
