Good, not-too-long piece from Amy's friends at Quillette regarding the masculine nature of programmers... It ain't exactly butch, but it's plenty masculine.
It ties in well with the comments from Six and Darth the other day regarding the laid-off Huffington Posties who were appalled at the suggestion that they should learn to code (as they themselves had been smirkingly instructing every blue-collar voter in America for the past twenty years).

Even if it cost her a little income over the years, I'll always admire Amy for turning down Ariana's 'offer.'

Yesterday's anger from Kaus was sincere but brief, and now he's looking ahead. The guy's a pro. He knows that tomorrow is closer than it looks.
This shutdown lasted 35 days. So next time, Dems will be unlikely to take Trump seriously for at least the first month. The present agreement funds things for three weeks, to Feb 15th, so presumably Trump can't recover the leverage he had on Friday until April or so.... By which time he'll have been getting hammered pretty ferociously by Congressional resistance to pretty much everything he does.
No idea how this will play out. But when you look at the patterns in this guy's life, you see that he often loses big fights, and then wanders off for some lesser venture.

Her facial expression will certainly earn Trump a vote or two.

Autonomous car design— Nope, I'll go with front crumple zones plus a firewall and a four-point harness.

An article linked from Amy's Twitter:
The best part may be the defamer sitting in court with his fingers in his ears so he can't hear the plaintiff's attorney speak.

Crid, it turns out the whole story is a tear-jerker of perseverance in the face of rejected love.
Snif.

Gog, I am shocked, utterly shocked, that a man with a history of violence against women would behave this way.

If I remember correctly, the Seven Sisters in Moscow are famously wooden, but they're also famously rickety.
