They think they'll be able to tell the former Trumpers to "suck it" when they beg for aid, which of course they will - while they, the coastal elite, will continue to purchase $4.00 lattes and $5,000 laptops, helping only the chosen and eternally-grateful recipients of their largesse. They don't see a scenario in which the government they help to put in power or the people living on their handouts turn on them.

Oh definitely. Nancy has used her position in ways that benefitted her husband.

I daresay that without Paul and his money, this "strong, independent woman" would not be where she is today.

Although, I would not discount the political skills she learned at the knee of her father, Thomas D'Alesandro, former Congressman and mayor of Baltimore, and from her Congressional mentor, George Miller of California. Those skills are all hers and she knows how to use them. She learned machine politics from some of the best.
