Baby Boomers needed 306 hours of minimum wage work to pay for 4 years of public college. Millennials needed 4,459. ~ from a link by Crid at February 24, 2019 1:51 AM
And the solution usually proposed is to mandate a higher minimum wage - when, in fact, college costs have risen at twice the rate of inflation.

This is what happens when something is so important the federal government has to pay for it, and promises to do so indefinitely: Costs skyrocket.
You would not believe what this has done to the skyline of my hometown.

In effect, this rules that civil asset forfeiture, at least in some cases, is unconstitutional. A friend of mine, a lawyer, predicts that this is going to make massive waves.
"Incredibly, I have heard city and state elected officials who were opponents of the project claim that Amazon was getting $3 billion in government subsidies that could have been better spent on housing or transportation. This is either a blatant untruth or fundamental ignorance of basic math by a group of elected officials. The city and state 'gave' Amazon nothing. Amazon was to build their headquarters with union jobs and pay the city and state $27 billion in revenues. The city, through existing as-of-right tax credits, and the state through Excelsior Tax credits - a program approved by the same legislators railing against it - would provide up to $3 billion in tax relief, IF Amazon created the 25,000-40,000 jobs and thus generated $27 billion in revenue. You don't need to be the State's Budget Director to know that a nine to one return on your investment is a winner." ~ from an article in a link by Crid at February 24, 2019 10:13 AM
So much for that argument about whether the money existed. New York's State Budget Director says it was not cash sitting in an account ready to be spent on roads, housing, etc. if only the politicians hadn't "given" it to Amazon.
He goes on to say about progressives' anti-corporate hysteria, "...at the end of the day we lost $27 billion, 25,000-40,000 jobs...."
Tell me again how much AOC knows about economics, how smart she is.

Witless prattle about the importance of education did this to it.

Amy, I hope you see this. This is very exciting.
It seems that the Supreme Court ruled that the excessive fines clause of the Eighth Amendment is incumbent on the states as well as the Federal Government.

Consider this argument.
