No one is obligated to date anyone, and if you're not considered attractive, it is not up to everyone else to couch themselves in a therapist's office to fix that.

"No one is obligated to date anyone ..."
Don't give anyone any ideas. I can just imagine a college campus implementing an "equitable dating" scheme, with two or three angry people deciding what "equitable" is.

I can just see it now. A "date" card for every undergrad; one with a field for a stamp and signature of an official representative of each oppressed identity group on campus. Until you get your card fully stamped and validated, you can't graduate.

I'm a psychiatric nurse and work in a psychiatric hospital.
I've met straight transgender females who were not attracted to straight transgender males, but were depressed because straight cisgender males weren't attracted to them.
I've met gay transgender males (though very few) who were not attracted to other gay transgender males, but were attracted to straight cisgender males; and were offended because gay cisgender males weren't attracted to them
I've met straight transgender males who were not attracted to straight transgender females, were attracted to lesbian and straight cisgender females, but were offended because straight cisgender females weren't attracted to them.
I've met lesbian transgender females who were not attracted to other transgender females, and were offended because lesbian cisgender females weren't attracted to them.
Maybe sexual attraction has more to do with sex than with gender identity. And maybe some transgender people are really cisgender but don't know it. When they find out can they "come out" as cisgender?

Until you get your card fully stamped and validated, you can't graduate.
And when the Normals decide to not continue funding higher ed, the higher ed people will blame it on "anti-intellectualism".
Ultimately it comes down to "would I want to date someone who is loonie tunes?"
Trouble is, that's hard for people living in a me-first world to grasp.
"What do you mean, you won't have sex with ME? We can use disease protection - what's your problem?"
Just because we don't use the word "frigid" anymore (a very selfish term, to say the least) doesn't mean young people really tolerate - or even understand - the idea of individuals who are too young, asexual, severely traumatized, or who just don't want to have sex with a particular person.
Btw, here's an etiquette tip to add to that list of rules I wrote that parents should remember to teach their sons (but also daughters, sometimes):
No, it is not rude, misandrist, or prudish when your new or not-so-new girlfriend refuses to be alone with you. She's simply trying to avoid nasty arguments about heavy petting. Everyone has the right not even to TALK about sex. If you can't respect that, you're not really old enough to be dating.

This rhetoric is merely inane, but sanctimony of that magnitude should be punishable by a 5-year term in jail and a $700,000 fine.
Or, the guy could pony up the money for these things himself.

What an interesting set of problems this would create. What happens if no member of the "oppressed identity group" wants to date a particular undergrad? The undergrad has dutifully approached each member of this group available on campus and no one wants to date him.
What happens? Does he have to have his degree withheld until someone from an oppressed minority group enrolls and agrees to date him?
Also, what if a particular oppressed minority group happens to be represented by only one student at any particular point? Does this lucky student now have the entire student body asking them out?

Then, I guess that undergrad becomes an oppressed minority; and the cycle continues until everyone on campus is an oppressed minority.
And yes, identity politics is just that ridiculous.

"Maybe sexual attraction has more to do with sex than with gender identity."
Oh, damn. It does!
You can generate a Bell Curve for every physical characteristic or group of characteristics, such as prominence of a physical feature set -- and there is still another Bell Curve to be applied at every point of that curve for libido.
For one example, the cutie in Playboy doesn't have to be interested in anything you have to offer, even though the magazine's selection process won't select for nymphomania, fatal to the maintenance of physical perfection such a magazine seeks to present.
You may have personal experience of this phenomenon: you find a person fantastically desirable out of all proportion to appearance. That's a hint.

I think it's been mentioned here before (by me even), but "Cotton ceiling" is the term for lesbians who generally accept transwomen, but not as potential sex partners.
It's very rapey, it evokes the whole "smash through the glass ceiling" imagery. But lesbians are getting shit for not liking dick.

No. Cisgender is the love whose prefix shall not be spoken.
Perhaps they should have thought of this before opting for self-mutilation?
