Trump! What a guy. Truly a heroic figure in American history. Future generations will tremble with reverence that such a figure ever walked the earth. Burgers; porn stars. Billionaire!
The jury really doesn't like Oberlin College. I'm sure they're going to triple down, by a) appealing the decision, b) appealing the amount, and c) suing their insurer because the insurer isn't going to cover intentional acts leading to this award.
Oberlin will also be picking up opposing counsel's legal bills. That could be another significant hit.

Our environment becomes increasingly coercive… And these new speed bumps are presumably more expensive (to build and maintain on the public dollar) than regular ones.

I won't say the media is the "enemy of the people" but they're certainly not your friend if you hold "unacceptable" opinions.
“The jury really doesn't like Oberlin College. “
Great, there are probably no professors or students on the jury, just regular people who have to put up with them and the never ending protests.

I guarantee you there were no college affiliated persons on the jury. At best, they might have gotten former employees or students, but no one currently employed or attending.
And the Normals have not been amused with the goings-on at Oberlin, putting their town in a bad light.

More Oberlin.
I suspect the jury hated Oberlin and its students and wanted to punish both.
Anyone associated with the college would have been excluded as possibly biased. The Gibson's and maybe other bakers would also have been excluded, but that's a small group compared to the entire staff and student body. Most townies could get onto the jury unless they were vocal about hating the college or the students - but I wonder how many of them realized that was how to avoid jury duty...
Jerk.
