Justice For Some
Meanwhile, a man I represent is jailed on Rikers right now, unable to afford bail, after successfully doing check-ins for last 9 years bc he failed to update his new address when he recently became homeless. Faces up to 4 years prison. Epstein didn't check in once since 2011. https://t.co/xsiwx8La79

Excuses, excuses, from the NY Post story by Elizabeth Rosner, Tina Moore, Larry Celona and Bruce Golding:
The NYPD cop assigned to monitor Epstein has repeatedly complained to Vance's Sex Crimes Unit that Epstein wasn't in compliance, according to a source familiar with the matter. But prosecutors told the cop to merely send Epstein a letter, reminding him of his reporting requirement.
A Vance spokesman denied that allegation, saying "the NYPD -- which is the agency responsible for monitoring SORA compliance -- has repeatedly told us that Mr. Epstein was in full compliance with the law."
"Our office vigorously prosecutes all failure-to-verify cases. Our prosecutors did not and would not discourage the NYPD from making an arrest," Vance spokesman Danny Frost said.
NYPD spokesman Phillip Walzak said the SOMU "monitored Epstein while his reporting address was in New York City."
"The NYPD is proud of its hard work alongside our federal partners to make the case against Epstein that lead to his arrest for his vile crimes, and that will ultimately bring justice for his victims."
An NYPD spokesman added that this took place years ago, before much of the current leadership at NYPD was in place.
And then -- for a little change of pace -- remember Kalief Browder? Per the NYT quoting HuffPo: He "was arrested in New York City at the age of 16 in 2010 and jailed for three years without trial for allegedly stealing a backpack. Mr. Browder spent two of those years in solitary confinement, endured 'unspeakable violence at the hands of inmates and guards' and tried to kill himself several times. He was released in 2013, but never fully recovered, and he hanged himself last year."

In the middle ages, you could hire a champion to fight for you in your trial by combat. Who every could hire the best champion won.

It's time for Alex Acosta to go. I don't care how much faith Trump has in him as Secretary of Labor. There are plenty of other people who can do that job (which is a lot less important than it used to be). If Acosta won't resign, Trump needs to fire him.

Let's all remember that social media means every grim occurrence in every corner of human habitation is presented as typical... and that the weaknesses in our own moods can accelerate the inflammation at these genuine injustices, sometimes catastrophically.
Keep your head in order, and watch your boundaries.
Because I fear your grandchildren will assume that civilization is a lost project and say to hell with it.

Before Acosta resigns or has his resignation accepted, we should actually see what actually transpired back in 2008.
Acosta may have been facing some very strong head winds to get to trial. Not to mention having to put the victims on the stand have them get grilled on cross and generally dredging up those incidents that most of them would like to leave in the past.

Is anyone surprised? Epstein is a billionaire. Just like the sweetheart deal that Trump's Secretary of Labor Alexander Acosta arranged for him, Epstein will get a light slap on the wrist and the prison time he will serve will be in a country club prison.
Because, you know, he's a billionaire. Can't expect him to endure the rigors of a conventional prison.

I do believe that the non-boat-rocking weenie Alex Acosta should step down, because of this scandal. As an aside, he hasn't done much on the deregulation front in his position, either.

> Epstein is a billionaire.
Are we sure about that? I've heard talk.
Trumps wealth has always been largely presumptive as well
